So do people think Aguero was better then than now?
Me thinks he is doing a Ronaldo ( R9 ).
Circa 2002~2005 he was still a tremendous striker, arguably the best in the world or at least a very close contender;
but he was a mere shadow of his former 95~98 not-of-this-world self.
Repeated injuries set him eons back, and he never been able to shred to the level of fitness he had back in those days.
Compare Aguero to his 2011~2014 displays, the same analogy comes to mind.
First of all, he has lost a significant amount of pace and time-reaction, both when running at full-speed and when switching gears.
He also became so much less clinical than he was before the calf injury :

Still well settled in the curent top 5 for world's best striker, but certainly not on par with his former dominating displays.
Yet even knowing that, he should definitely walk into the 2011 squad since there aren't that many better players in the world at his position.
The same can't be said about the likes of David Silva, Zaba or obviously Komps and Yaya.
In contrary to Iniesta or Xavi, Dave seems to not age as well as his Spanish international squad mates.
His performances took a nose-dive since the second season under Peller's.
Creative midfielders tend to remain highly competitive till they reached into their mid~late 30s; but in his case, he seems to have hit a wall since he was 29.
