Jack in my day ,used to have his nicknames for everyone when calling the register,I used to ignore him,he,d chase me round the class then punch lumps out of me.Whitwam was french master,baldwin was another abuser.

Madden was the worst! He'd be up in court nowadays!

I remember Jack's pats on the back but a good laugh all the same. Remember Mr Morris the Maths teacher... fucking psycho! And Bill Pye, another decent bloke.

But all in all I fucking hated the place and danced with joy when I heard of it being burned to the ground!

i danced out of there (legit this time) aged 15 1/4.
i did ok at newton heath but as soon as we changed it was dreadful and i would'nt go.
on our first morning madden called me to the front and tossed a coin, i had to pick heads or tails, i called and lost so he strapped me, well not a strap, an edge of the ruler, i cried my eyes out. he then turned to my mate (tommy swales r.i.p.)and he called right,he rulered him for being a smartarse.the following day he tried again and we refused. he then sent us out of the class never to return, everyday we did no maths and no science, he bannished us to the corridor for the full term. other teachers would express concern over our lack of education but did nothing about it. he was an evil man, evil. many years later he walked in to a carpet shop i was working at in oldham, he proceded to tell me he had lukemia and was going to die, i said good you evil twat now fuck off.

he did'nt order a carpet.

Baldwin was science or chemistry,he used a rubber hose instead of a strap.He called it oscar. Jack did morris dancing in his spare time
was Nellie Nutbeam still there in 65.She used to make you put your hands together for the strap,as she was about to hit me i pulled em apart,she hit her leg,i got 6 of the best off Greenhalgh,class liked it.

My cousin was there, just a couple of years younger than you. I think he was in the same year as Atherton's younger brother (who he claims was also crap at cricket).

I too hated the place,full of teachers just waiting for their holidays and pensions.
Mr Blackwood is still around,hemarried The blonde English teacher Linda roberts.
Remember the american Miss Stein?Mr wilkinson the art teacher,Strongitharm the metal work teacher and happy harry andrews tech drawing,hit me once with a blackboard rubber as id fell asleep in his class.
Madden aka Tommy Toecap was bricked once when taking photos of a fire in Newton Heath.Gave me six smacks with a ruler once as i'd forgotten a pencil,sadistic bastard he was.
The Dome was the head when I was there,Greenhalgh deputy head,Left with one o level and not looked back since.
