Lets face it, we've blown millions on some right duds over the years, arguably still do given Jo's 'contribution'. A point worth making however is that none of the players mentioned (and the trillions of others not listed yet) ever set their own transfer valuation. The fact is, MCFC have been one of the worsed managed clubs in top-flight football over the past 50 years and the turn over of players and managers reflects this. Hughes will be clearing out players from 3 previous managerial regimes this summer, that says it all.
Personally, I don't have a 'biggest disaster' on my list although Fowler and Badbuy have to be up there certainly. Allan Green's comment that Bob Taylor was "a pub player" was about his most accurate observation ever. Macken and Vouso are prime examples of why Mike Ashley was completely right not to want KK anywhere near his money. I will always maintain that Walsh + £cash for Creaney was the worst peice of tranfer business we ever conducted, I really do. It massivally contributed to our relagation in 1996, that set the club back at least 5 years and considerable income as the Prem really started to flourish, and we're still playing catch-up even now, although ADUG means this will now happen much quicker. As for Jo.... well again he didn't set the fee but £20mil?? Not in a million years.
