I think City are fairly confident that a serious bid for him is highly unlikely and they're playing a blinder here. Pep will want Eric as a part of the squad this season so it's up to him now to fight and be ready for an opportunity to nail down a place. An opportunity will come so it's on him to stop being a mardarse and get on with it.

Exactly how I see it. City giving him what he wants whilst at the same time knowing it’s highly unlikely that anyone will stump up the cash for him. Hopefully at some point he gets his chance then this season and seizes it like stones did this time last season. If not, he’s important cover and he leaves next summer.
