To be honest, I don’t really notice him when watching Brighton. Top players generally stick out when playing in mediocre sides. Take Mane at Southampton or Tevez at West Ham for example. I’ll never understand why we didn’t pursue Mane. If the recruitment staff can’t spot an obvious talent like that, playing in this league, we’ve got serious problems. What is it about Bissouma you dont think puts him in the top bracket?
And Douglas Luiz and Jack Harrison would cost 50m plus for players that we had bought in the 1st place.Haaland and Grealish alone would cost us 200m
Luiz, is 25 mill and we had no choice but to sell with a buyback as we couldn't get him a work permit. Could turn out a very good deal. And Douglas Luiz and Jack Harrison would cost 50m plus for players that we had bought in the 1st place.
Not sure what the buyback is on Luiz but I think someone mentioned it was 30m.
I'm guessing Leeds would value Harrison at more than 45m and if they were selling they'd sell to the highest bidder.
That loan we have with Leeds with obligation to buy does not look to have been the best or maybe we didn't think Harrison would turn out as good as he has.
If we do buy him back he could well be.Luiz, is 25 mill and we had no choice but to sell with a buyback as we couldn't get him a work permit. Could turn out a very good deal.
Im still torn on Rodri,i know hes a very good player but,for one reason or another,i dont think we are consistently seeing that yet,in his defence,he does plenty of good/dirty work that goes unnoticed. His physicality/height is also something we need more of,not less.Mahrez should go ASAP. Maybe just that would be enough depending on his replacement (even if it was a kid from the academy).
Mendy, Zinchenko, Gundogan and Bernardo should probably be replaced too if the right alternate is available but I don't think replacing just 1 or 2 of them would significantly change our play for the better.
IMO to have the greatest impact then both Rodri and Sterling should go. They are fundamental to our style. So that's what to remedy imo.
He might come good. But if he does will he stay good. We seem to have had enormous variance in key players' performance. For example Stones and Sterling have gone up and down dramatically - one month they are exceptional and the next chronic. Same could be said probably of Gundogan and Bernardo. Even KDB. My gut feeling is that Rodri is unlikely to be good enough often enough.Im still torn on Rodri,i know hes a very good player but,for one reason or another,i dont think we are consistently seeing that yet,in his defence,he does plenty of good/dirty work that goes unnoticed. His physicality/height is also something we need more of,not less.
Im sort of with you on Rodri....but I disagree that his good work doesnt go unnoticed. Its noticed BUT he is a limited player.....Gareth Barry was one of those under appreciated players but he was significantly better than Rodri is as he had more to his game while doing all the stuff Rodri does well.Im still torn on Rodri,i know hes a very good player but,for one reason or another,i dont think we are consistently seeing that yet,in his defence,he does plenty of good/dirty work that goes unnoticed. His physicality/height is also something we need more of,not less.
