Who’s gone in the summer?

Why on earth would either go to Arsenal? Bernardo especially when the biggest issue he appears to have is living in England
Well he might not have much choice as there doesn't seem to be any money in the other leagues. I believe weather is a big factor. Of that's the case, London has markedly better weather than Manchester.

Still doubt either would even consider it, why would either player want to step down to not be playing European football? I think they’ll both end up getting moves, maybe loans with obligations to buy, but if not surely they’d both rather wait and play another year for the champions than sign a big contract for a club they don’t particularly want to join.
could be completely wrong but that’s the way I see it personally.

If Bernardo and Jesus want to leave, Atletico this is a great option for them, they both go in one direction, João Felix the other direction. Great deal for both sides.

Good point. 60m valuation for each of them against 120m on Felix. Ideal player for the false 9 position.

But these kind of swaps are notoriously difficult to pull off because of agent fees etc.

I'd love to see what Jesus and Felix could do together with the former's workrate and the latter's flair and skill.

Foden/Sterling Felix Jesus/Mahrez

Grealish Kev

On what planet is an overhyped overpriced lightweight flop like Felix worth two multiple champions in their prime? Dearie me

On his book value from two summers ago. Signed a seven year contract, they aren't going to take a loss on him.

Two players who are surplus to requirements and/or want to leave for lifestyle reasons.

I'd prefer the prospect of selling Bernardo for closer to £100 million and keeping Jesus. But there is no realistic prospect of that when the clubs we could ordinarily demand that kind of sum from are skint.

Really wouldn't want to lose Laporte. He's hardly 2nd choice, an injury forced that last season but Dias and Stones won't always be at their best, they're going to dip and give Laporte chances and vice-versa.

We need Jesus too, not got a striker yet, so no chance he's leaving. That may change once a striker comes through the door.

I'll be gutted to lose Bernardo but we're most equipped in that area.

Of course our valuation needs to be met, they've all got long contracts, so no need to force it on our part.

problem is theres no money to buy them, laporte and silva want spain but barca are broke, real only want mbappe and supposedly atletico dont want to pay 50 mil for bernardo

Laporte going would hurt and surely we would need to replace him? Bernardo we knew about in fairness and have brought grealish in but gabby would be the strange one as if we brought Kane in we would still need an extra striker in case of injury etc?

Wonder if Phil and KDB's injury changes things.. Bernardo would still would have 3 years left on his deal if he stays this season so we could still get a decent fee. I guess the worry is if Bernardo will leave it all out there, or be worried about a possible injury occurring.

Sandtner is rated highly by Pep and Txixi. I wonder if anyone actually came in with a decent bid for Laporte that we wouldn’t buy to replace him.

Bernardo and Jesus for Felix? Tough to close out with agents etc, but it’d solve a problem and leave us with a back up for Kane.

Means that A Madrid need to pay two huge wages though mate? I really can’t see where these guys go in the current market?

Really hope we hold out for a great fee on Bernardo. Let buyers know they cannot mug us off. stop with the "being nice to accomodate leaving players"...

If we would be after Bernardo lets say as he would like a change of scenery at Atletico after similar seasons he had with us, do you think 40m offer would not be laughed off from us.

would hope 60-70m, not 30/40...
or at least closer to 60 than 50m.

The reason that we sell established players for less that we ‘think’ they’re worth is because a players cost is both fee and the substantial salary for the contracts duration.
When we buy an up and coming player they’re generally on a lower salary than we would pay (we pay well and that’s one reason why players want to play for us).

Then, when we go to sell a player, to a club with a lower salary budget, they need to account for the big salary our player will demand on top of the purchase fee, by negotiating a fee low enough to account for the salary.

But that’s not generally a problem as we can sell a player for less than the original purchase price but still make a handsome profit.
This is because the fee’s amortised over the length of the contract so that a player purchased at say £60M on a 5 year deal has a value to the club of £24M after 3 years (£12M write off per annum over the period).

It’s also daft to keep a player that doesn't want to be with you because the negativity poisons the dressing room and you have to keep paying the wages for the pleasure of having a Jonah onboard.
What’s Bernardo’s salary - Say £140k a week or thereabouts?
If so then keep him for one more year and it costs us £7,280,000 in wages - and his value falls much more than that as it plummets by the the annual amortised amount.

IMO it’s always best to move out dissatisfied players quickly. It maintains moral and saves many £millions in salary.
If the best fee you can get exceeds the book value then it’s a profit and much better than hanging on to a player, suffering the depreciation and paying the salary.

And you’ve got to sell at some point, you can’t hold onto a player indefinitely.
If you keep a player too long then he’ll run out of contract and you’ll end up having paid all his wages while he walks away whistling on a free.

It'd be a shame to lose any of them, but if they want to go and can get a buyer lined up, then let them go.

Although I can't see all three going unless we get exorbitant offers for them. So likely Bernardo and one of Laporte or Jesus, with the other being forced to stay put for at least another season.

Irritatingly I'd rate Laporte as the best of the three IMO, but I'd wager he's the one positionally that we can afford to let go the most, especially if Sandler is as highly rated as apparently we've heard he is. On the opposite end Jesus (as much as I rate him) is probably the weakest of the three, but he's literally our only striker atm. Even if Kane comes in it'd be inconvenient to lose him.

Regardless of who leaves I see Kane being our only other incoming player. As I said before if Laporte goes Aké will get moved up a spot and Sandler comes in.
