I'm surprised that you're surprised by that.I was looking at clothes in a shop yesterday. Then when I was on Amazon later, virtually the same sort I tried on was advertised. Probably coincidence, but I initially thought it had tracked me into a specific shop.
Google maps will direct you to a specific house or building so they will know exactly where you are at any one time.
I have a mate who was going to an office of Mi5 for work purposes (he isn't a spy).
When he got there they were questioning him about why he stopped at a petrol station - they had been tracking him before he even arrived.
