Who and what’s to blame?

The biggest issue was we never planned for kompany, Aguero, fern, silva, yaya leaving or ageing. That’s the entire spine of our team which is still vacant.

Mendy
Rodri
Cancello
Zinc
Otamendi
Stones
Gundy
Not good enough

sterling
Jesus
Bernardo
Not consistent

Fern too old & slow :-(

Sane going for about £40 mil is insane too

All we have is Kev, Laporte, Eddy, foden, Walker, Aguero (age) & Mahrez going into next season. One of them injured and it will show.

Kev is that good he fills over too many issues we have.

Each time we win the league we never invest correctly & immediately.

VAR fooked us over
UEFA fooked is over

but we fooked ourselves over much more which is bizarre whilst we have Pep.

it’s a big job to re build this team to win a prem & champs league. It’s criminal the board have let it get to this. This could push pep out the door too.

you need to wake up if you think we will walk the league next year. Many other teams who beat us this year will be much stronger.

we need at least 4/5 class players not squad players. We might get 1 or 2 if lucky.

how we end this season will really tell us where we are. Win fa cup & champs league & we go into next year full of confidence & attract a few big players. Loose both could be the start of a real shit storm especially with uefa looming.

I’m not being negative I’m being realistic.

it’s been a great ride but that’s over for now in my opinion.

We have gone from one of the quickest teams in Europe to one that is far too adverse to risk and playing across opponents.

I don't think Rodri is the player we need and I do like him for the stuff he does do well.

The ageing and loss of Fernandinho in the middle of the park is bigger than any departure of Yaya or Vinny in recent seasons.

Ironically, our slower tempo is probably best served to the Champions League.
I honestly think Rodri might be best suited to us at LB

agree

out the door:

Mendy
Otto
Gunodgan
Zincenko (feel sorry for him as he is a very good player being played way out of position)

In

A replacement or two for Vinnie
A quick wide forward - we need variation to our play.
A left back who can actually fucking defend

then we can concentrate on the biggest of them all next season- a replacement for Kun

Bravo, Ottamendi, Stones, Cancelo, Silva and Sané leaving would be a pretty big overhaul.

Selling Mendy doesnt really make sense, we'll get nothing for him, and despite the blunder he showed some good signs of his attacking game coming back yesterday. Should have had 2 assists from the 2 perfect crosses he put in. Bringing in a first choice LB and see if the old Mendy comes back while not relying on him in big games makes more sense.

Zinchenko as well is on such low wages that he's worth keeping and maybe if we move him into midfield he'll show how good he is.

I would like to see us bring in a physical midfielder. Someone quick and who puts themselves about. Pep had Vidal at Bayern and Keita at Barca and he used them effectively.

2. Defense. Fullbacks have been terrible all season IMO. Swapping Danilo was a terrible decision. Walker and Stones seem content to have won so much that they stepped backwards. Mendy just hasn’t worked out and the way Pep managed Angelino was disgraceful imo. Decent player left on the bench all season only to be given his debut at anfield vs salah. He set him up to fail imo and didn’t want him brought back from the start.

Laporte was a massive loss, unfortunate.

I think Walker has been one of our better players this season and he is considerably better than Danilo and Cancelo (I'd put those two about on the same level). Zinchenko isn't a fullback and Mendy hasn't been all that we would have wished but Angelino certainly wasn't the answer either. At least one LB required.

Laporte was a loss but he needs a reliable partner and we just don't have one at present. I would say we need to look at replacing Stones and Otamendi.

Turning on ourselves and the team isn’t the way to go. 3 in a row was always going to be a tough task especially without Vinnie. We can’t win them all, we can still win 4 trophies this season which would be a huge achievement with one of our poorest squads for a while. We’re second in the premier league which many of us would’ve taken even 10 years ago. Clearly there’s problems but we can’t win the league every year. People forget easily that Bernardo and Ikay were key last season for us. I thought Mendy was having a good game up until the mistake and would’ve had 2 assists if a striker had started. Rodri will get better he’s only 24. Centre half is the area we need to fix either Garcia does it or someone else does. Get behind the team instead of being critical. They won’t have their aguero moment that we did, it’s not special like ours.

Haha - I'm not falling for this Clarkie, surely?

Rodri reminds me more of Vinny being bought as a midfielder until we quickly realised he wasn't.

Sadly for Rodri, he has the technique but not the recovery pace of Vinny to play at centre-back.

He's a bit soft to be a defender.

Garcia? There's still time for him to make a strong claim this season.

Perhaps that is why it feels like a culmination season for this current cycle?

Winning an FA Cup and the Champions League would feel very much like the end of a journey rather than the start of a new one.

Chelsea had something similar when Drogba was coming to the end?

There has been a lack of intensity from the team and the fans this season. Pep is all about intensity, but you can only push the envelope on that so far.

I said the same a few months ago, personally at the start of the season It didn't feel as exciting for some reason.

Spot on if slightly depressing. Throw Pep's departure into that mix and you have to ask -who do we trust to re-build a new squad . Txixi sorry not for me ,his main achievement was being a mate of Pep.
We need the Owners to be ruthless here.
