Who as been the biggest let down at City?

I am fairly new to the forum so I don't yet have the facility to post new threads so apologizes for hijacking the thread.

I was wondering what has happened to a couple of ex city players like Kinkladze and Kavelashvili.

I know kinkladze played for ajax and derby, did he go eslewhere after playing for these two?

Also do you think someone like kinkladze would fit well in the current city squad and would he be in the starting eleven?

I'd go with Dzeko, mostly because I watched him in the Bundesliga a lot with Wolfsburg, and in the Champions League, I was sure he'd need only a minimal adjustment period. I was shocked at how disengaged he looked much of the time he was on the pitch in a City shirt. Thankfully, I know what he's capable of, and I have every confidence he'll come good for City.

Behind him (in the non-Jô category, as I was very unimpressed with his YouTube clip, which basically consisted of him scoring on a bunch of breakaways against crappy goalkeepers), I'd say Milner. I know he's been forced to play out of his natural CAM position at City, but he really regressed from last season.

And then there's Kolarov. You'd think his weakness as a defender would've been exposed in the very technical Serie A. And you'd think he'd offer more quality going forward. At this point he's just a powerful left foot on set pieces.

And did I mention Boateng? He looked so good this summer for Germany, but has been flat-out awful for City -- even when he was fit. I'm inclined to give him another shot -- perhaps at LB next season, like where Germany deployed him.

And this might be nit-picking, but I'd like to see Yaya Touré not drift in and out of matches as much. When he's charging forward with the ball, it's one of my favorite sights on a football pitch.
i take it you have only been a city follower for a couple of seasons ?

all these people saying santa cruz was a "let down" are wrong. we KNEW he was shit and injury prone way before he signed, so he actually did what it said on the tin, no let down at all.

It's the curse of the Manchester City Centre forward

Over the last 40 odd years how many decent ones have we actually bought
Franny Lee, Wynne Davies, Joe Royle, Uwe Rosler, Sean Goater, Nicolas Anelka

The duffers
I can't remember them all.....
Macken
Taylor
Jo
Bianchi
Corradi
Samaras
Fowler
Crocky
Adebayour
Vuoso
etc etc....

Time will tell with Dzeko and Balotelli hopefully the curse has lifted!

Adebayor doesnt deserve to be on this list. He scored 15 goals in a stop start season where he almost died, was unfairly banned and came off the bench on many occasions. Some of you dont know what a flop is.

Very true, while I'd personally prefer him to be sold I'd never call him a 'flop' on the pitch.

With alot of the new players I feel that all they need is more time to really settle.

Let down implies I expected great things, so even though I've just said they needed time to settle i'll go for Dzeko. I love the guy, I really do and I hope next season he gets the lots of goals but I expected more sooner I will admit.

At least I can say the future looks bright.

Agreed Adebayour had a good start, and suffered inredibly in the terrorist attack, as I said, it's the Man City strikers curse, whatever the cause we haven't had the benefit of the player succeeding
