He is good, but I would be rather underwhelmed if he was brought in as the world class centre back we need to partner Kopmany.
I can only go off reports and what i've read on him, and admit i've never seen him play, but I like the sound of the kid we were going to buy in Jan - Mangala. He is by all accounts the worldie we need alongside Vincent, so I would prefer us to go for him, if the price is right.

At the end of the season I can see some major changes taking place to this squad. Players are coming up to the end of their contracts and I can see the following being moved on.
Barry, Lescott, Kolorov, Dzeko, Richards, Boyota and possibly even Milner.
I think we could also see Garcia and Rodwell depart with the latter possibly on loan.
Maybe Kolorov and Milner deserve new contracts but not sure how willing the powers that be will be to sanction the wages. Hooefully Nasri will agree a new deal.
We will need a CB, a left back who is better than Clichy (not hard) and a midfielder to put pressure on Yaya and Fernandinho and be good enough to rotate with them.
We will have to replace Dzeko and bring in at least 2 others to boost the squad and maybe promote 2/3 from the youth ranks.
It's not going to be cheap getting the quality we need as I can't see us raising more than £30m from the outgoing players.
Get the right quality in and we have a chance on all fronts.

With all due respect, because you've probably seen him play more often than I have, but I have seen people raving about Chiellini for years on here but pretty much every time I have seen him play against decent opposition he has been all over the fucking place. And I don't mean that in a good way.
