Clichy with Angelino backing him up. Not many right wingers around anymore anyway, so it's not like full backs have to be old school full backs anymore. More importantly, can he get up and down the line for 90 minutes and deliver a ball. Hopefully, Pep will see that Clichy can do the former and needs a bit of work on the latter. Angelino could save us £10M if given the chance!

However, I would play with three backs and five midfielders across the middle unless there was a serious wing threat. City rarely set up for the opposition, as it is usually the other way around.

He definitely needs competition, an idle clichy isn't the best on the eye... However, i'd wager that Gael is probably one of the fittest players at the club, along with dinho. A little coaching and he could be the surprise package in peps team!!

Wouldn't be surprised if Delph was given a go esp due to the fact pep likes using 'inverted' fullbacks. From pep confidential he seemed to use them vs counter attacking teams which are the trend atm in the Prem. Also would be good in the press and is ok on the ball Compared to most fullbacks anyway

Delph left back? How he is at city is one of the great mysteries of modern football. Nowhere near good enough to be playing for us in any position.

Why do some people keep saying Fernandinho? why would we play our best midfielder by far at left back. Hopefully Kolarov will leave and someone like Rodriguez will join. I like Clichy but he isn't good enough to be first choice.

Bruno Peres second - he can play either.

Angelino will probably play third choice. I known that terrifies some people but you're going to have to get used to youngsters playing before everyone thinks they are ready.

Zinchenko can play there, although he seems to not like it.

Then we could go 3 at the back if necessary.


People are going to have to get used to a smaller squad. You don't bring through 30 players in 7 seasons by having 2 senior players in every position.

Same goes for striker. We aren't going to have three.

I have always said LB is the hardest position to fill. We are not the only club struggling to find one.
I think you have to assess what we have against what is available and on the basis Clichy is a decent player. He is a decent age and will have just had a full summer of rest. I think he will be fine. However Kolarov is a liability and must be sold. Angelino looked a long way off to me when playing for NYC, he was good going forward but was unconvincing defensively (in the MLS!).
