Who joins us in January?

You’re right in the sense that we are still in a decent position for CL qualification but that is more through luck than judgement. With the way we’ve performed in the last two months, we should be nowhere near 6th place.

Just look at the last few games. We lost to a shite United side, failed to beat a shite Everton side and got extremely lucky against a shite Leicester side. We simply do not finish top four without a few new additions.

Any slight overspend will also pay for itself if the players help us finish in the top 4.

Bridge, Fowler, Bellamy, de Jong, Bony, Jesus, Perrone, Alvarez were all January signings too.

That said, they know work has to be done. Versatile midfielder Joshua Kimmich, out of contract at Bayern Munich in the summer, has long fancied a move to the Premier League. Mail Sport has reported that Atalanta's Brazilian Ederson has been watched by City. Adam Wharton at Crystal Palace has admirers.

While both Martin Zubimendi and Bruno Guimaraes have also been discussed, City last week moved to rule out their possible January arrivals. City also knocked down the idea of a deal for Atletico Madrid's Pablo Barrios, although they are thought to have previously debated moving for the Spain international.

There is a buyback clause in Liam Delap's contract at Ipswich Town, with Lille striker Jonathan David also linked having scored 19 goals in 28 games for club and country this term. Omar Marmoush, 25, at Eintracht Frankfurt is possibly one to watch after the Egyptian netted 18 goals in 24 appearances for the Bundesliga side so far.

Wharton's Palace team-mate Marc Guehi is well liked at centre half but is likely to be out of any Premier League club's reach in January.

A league 1 DM would improve us currently. While the player may not be the long term solution in January, to do nothing would be suicidal for the club…. Players do move in Jan, its not ideal but we are desperate and will need to take our medicine!!

I cant believe anyone who has watched us since the start of NOV, can be so blasé about not bringing a DM in (even if its a temporary fix). The mind boggles

Yep! Even Pep is publicly saying we need help and hopes the club can do something. There has to be younger players up for the challenge as well? Nico Gonzalez, Valera, Baena to name a few?

Can't recall Pep ever being as blatant in his statements regarding the transfer window. He's been explicit saying we need a midfielder and a defender.

Although true he often says something like the market is difficult or we’ll see.

But we will be signing players.
 
I dont mind those attackers, Delap, Marmoush, David.

But these are summer signings, the attack currently is just about okay.

We desparately need a defender or two, and a defensive midfielder in january.
 
Yeah we need someone to rest haaland and to add some goals upfront. I don't think delap is a good idea as he's too similar and won't want to be a backup

A winger or striker who can play across the frontline and is more creative would be good. They can play with haaland or instead of him

Basically I've fallen in love with marmoush
 
Other than the fact nobody can score or create goals then yeah , the attack is ok .
 
strangely quiet still - maybe gaughan and ornstein et al have their phones off......

Yep i think given his relatively subpar season thus far and all the other major injuries around the squad we've been dissociating away the historic truth that he generally picks up one or two himself in a season and not necessarily short term ones.

There's a school of thought that suggests that since Haaland signed, we've built more and more of the team around him to our detriment and if he were to get injured and force us to switch to Foden up top in a false nine then that would actually help our fluidity.
It's not something I agree with necessarily (though do in parts) but it's a sensible thing

I think Pep would just play one of the midfielders as a false 9.

But I somewhat agree, which is why Delap is one I wouldnt mind bringing back for that reason.

Not sure its worth disrupting his form at Ipswich and want him back for sure.

Maybe now, maybe in the summer.

But we NEED to prioritize defensive players first imo.

A bit of an stretch to expect a League 1 DM to really improve us. Kalvin was meant to be the one who could help usbut he really struggled to make a mark at City.
