And some of the best facilities and player welfare. Players that are less than 25 only know City as a giant in the game and Pep as the greatest manager in the last 15-20 years.Half a season to get up to speed, a club world cup, and hit the ground running with two seasons of Pep. With better pay and the best training in the world.
Not for every player maybe but if the charges look like they're not coming to much then they'll be plenty willing to make the move.
The caveat that I would make is if the player already has another club in mind that can promise all of the above, you could add Arsenal and Chelsea to my list of top clubs to this.
Probably squad fillers than players who can really help us. Those type of players won't move mid season or if they did they would cost us more than we are willing to pay for them. Defender is the only position I would move for in January, especially with Nathan Ake's injury concerns.We’ll just have to wait and see on this one

For sure, it's a competitive and tricky market and we can't boss anyone around these days either. Some players who are in a title race might want to finish that as well. But to think a bad month or two means ambitions players don't want to sign for us in January OTT in my opinion. Charges are the only thing that might hang over us, but you get the sense the club are more confident than when they started and will be saying so to agents.And some of the best facilities and player welfare. If we only get a defender in Jan we’re in lots of trouble. Pep’s comments seem to imply we are after midfielder(s) as well. Regarding getting the best players in January I’m not sure we’ve even tried in the last few years, this year it could very well be differentProbably squad fillers than players who can really help us. They want to succeed and have the best platform to really thrive. Moving midseason isn't the best time for that especially with our aging midfield and our star man still recovering from a serious knee injury and having to adapt to Pep's methods.
We can ride it out with the midfield until the better targets would be more readily available. Defence is the issue in terms of numbers and reliabilty. The new signings need that time to really bed in, especially in adapting to the Premier League. Gundo is sn example of only spending one season away from the Premier League but really struggling to get back to the pace and intensity of it all, and he was only been brought in as cover.If we only get a defender in Jan we’re in lots of trouble. It can be partially sorted without adding extra personnel this season. Haaland took his chance in the first half vs Leicester then things would have been a little more comfortable. Pep could tweak his approach to stop us being vulnerable to counter attacks. Pointless wasting money in getting the wrong player this month. All the better players tend to be involved in their own battles for winning trophies, Champions League places and there are not many top quality out of favour players at those clubs either. Could easily end up with another Kalvin Phillips or even to some extent Matheus Nunes.No DM? Seriously after the last few months?

I'm also worried that without some cover, Haaland will break down. I'm not particularly a fan of either player, but why isn't Pep giving minutes to McAtee and O'Reilly?

You talk like you've spoken personally to all these players, you don't know at all what their thinking is or what their ambitions are. Or what kind of money would be on the table for them and their agents.The Release Clause.
Both and the player would not want to move just yet either. Similar with Zubimendi (although he is carrying a back injury). Porto are in a middle of the title race and are on course for the latter stages of the Champions League. They aren't going to further weaken themselves at this stage and they aren't going to do us any favours either seeing we have poached their DoF.
If City are intent on doing something they have the means and capability to do so. For the first time in a long time Pep has spoken publicly about making January signings which I think could be an indicator that the club are working on deals already.
