Could not agree more. We can’t expect Delph and Mendy to stay fit throughout the season. Mendy reminds me of Micah. Massive talent but constantly injured. I hope he can prove me wrong but not got much hope. There is a reason why we have 4 amazing CBs.

i do find this Morale high ground a bit strange. I agreed with scrapping sanchez transfer as that was just for the money and would have disrupted squad harmony ,but what was the reason here ?

Napoli are scum bags and difficult to deal with but so was Levy when we got walker and we big money for him and mendy in much needed positions.

I would argue with ferna 33 , the DM position is essential to fill

I agree and that's why I said Napoli are scum bags. He has apparently has gone for 57m euros. Our offer , what i read was nearly 55m euros before chelsea came into the picture . So it was basically over 2-3m Euros we were haggling over

anyway we may not know the clear picture and he has signed for them. Lets move on but I hope we simply don't depend on delph who himself is injure prone

This. And I’ve said on a previous post that it seems we are operating to a strict budget. This doesn’t mean we don’t have more to spend - we clearly do and have ‘saved’ the Jorginho fee - but I do think we’re having to be careful. Perhaps we are keeping our powder dry in case ‘a big opportunity signing’ comes our way in which case the club would seek to finance it by some means.

I think this argument would have more merit if we didn't just spend 60 mil on Mahrez, a signing where we already had a number of options...

dinho's position is vital, especially when coming up against midfields which will aim to close down quickly. there's so much pressure on dinho to receive and release the ball quickly and precisely either from a press splitting pass from ederson or recycling possession from silva/Kev.
to gamble on dinho's fitness and concentration for a whole season is unnecessary.
not sure how I'd feel in a champions league quarter final with ederson being charged down by two forwards relying on delph getting into the right position and not losing control of the ball
