Who now then?...

Just posted this on another thread....not saying its right as I want us to buy a world class DM but if these comments are correct, sounds like we just didnt want to spend what it would take??

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (Bayern Munich) on Manchester City and transfer inflation: "He [Guardiola] said they originally planned to buy a few more players but decided against it because they no longer want to be part of the madness."

Rummenigge: "I was a bit surprised to hear this at first, but then I thought it would indeed be wonderful if this statement were to be true until the English window closes. City, PSG -- they've always been the global inflaters."

None of that is good if other clubs continue to spend to improve. Absolutely no point in us trying to take some kind of moral high ground if Chelsea and rags and Liverpool just go ahead and sign players we targetted. We'll just end up battling for a top 4 spot instead of the title. Can't get complacent.

Have there been any mentions of Sebastian Rudy?

Surplus to requirements at Bayern, linked with Leipzig - defensive midfielder, capable of filling in as a RB. Wouldn't be a bad rotation option and a very capable player in my opinion.

It is nothing to do with morality. The market is hyper- inflated. There are no DMs who will significantly improve our team available.

Remember last season a team were absolutely desperate for a left back. So they paid 50 million pounds for one. Within a month he was injured and that team had no left back. Because the manager was rather good and the players backed him by working hard and learning to adapt. That team went on to become arguably the best ever team in England. So that team would have won the title whether they had spent 50 mil on a left back or not.

Do not believe it is the end of the world.

Pep is the best. Maybe he wants to do things more organically and mould Gomes, Luiz, Sandler or Zinch to play there. Or maybe we'll play 343 rather than 352, so we don't need 3 midfielders when playing 3 at the back.

It certainly is not the end of the world but city`s LB problem last season was cured because Ottamendi had his best season ever in a blue shirt Delph and Zincky both played well but Ottamendi carried them, there is nobody that could challenge an unfit Fernandinho at city as proved last season, we went after Jorginho which proves we have the money and we have a need and there are plenty of DM out there that are better than Delph Zincky or Gundogen they might be less experienced than Jorginho not as technical younger or faster, it is not hard to improve the squad and i will be very surprised if Pep puts off a a problem today that will be compounded next season

That isn't the point though. Jorginho was seen as someone in the long term good enough to replace Fernandinho. Anyone we buy doesn't just have to be better than Delph or Gundogan they have to be able to replace Fernadinho long term otherwise next summer we will still need a replacement and we will be stuck with a squad player we can't move on. If that player is available now we'll go for him if he isn't we'll wait. I'm not too fussed either way, for this window though.

I know where your coming from but that is the point, Jorginho was experienced a great passer and position ally good but slow there are others who are better at other things that can fit our system just as well, after all Jorginho is nothing like Fernandinho
