It seems rather mad, but in reality, it's not going to make a difference, Truss will win, and the chances are any malicious intent would support her.

Brexit is becoming a choke chain around the necks of the Conservatives. They instigated it, they mismanaged it, they cant even deliver it.
They don't want to deliver it.
They want to drag it out and create perpetual culture wars, without that they wouldn't get self identitying Brexiteers in Northern towns voting against their own interests.
