Who should be the next leader of the Tory party?

The one saving grace about Truss is her sheer incompetence. Her reaction to bad press is to say she has always very clearly said whatever the opposite of what generated the bad press in the first place. This will prevent her implementing nearly all of her agenda, which will change with the wind on a daily basis leading her to being a lame duck for the duration of her tenure. Not what the country needs right now by any stretch but infinitely better than her actually implementing some of the shite she comes out with.
That opening sentence is a work of genius.
Not harsh, and true.

A spy tells me Truss was speaking in Hale yesterday and after about ten minutes of waffle asked for comments from the audience.
The first comment was from a man who described himself as a high-rate tax payer and he stated he wanted to pay more tax in order to help the poor rather than less tax. Truss just said she disagreed without explaining why, and contentious questions were banned for the rest of the meeting.

Everyone knows that her pitch for leadership is 100% targeted at the electorate for that particular vote which I suspect consists almost entirely of affluent middle aged to elderly people who want to pay less tax and don't give much of a shit about the struggles of the poorest 90% of the population as long as it doesn't affect them. It's not the best strategy for securing votes in a future election but maybe she knows that the Tories don't have a cat in hells chance of winning the next election so it's pointless having policies that will help people that will never vote for them. Also she's not averse to denying she ever said half the things she actually has said, so there will be a totally different contradictory message in the run up to the next election - which should make the opposition's election campaign like shooting fish in a barrel.

This **** could soon be the most powerful person in the country. Think about that. I know the Northwest, like us, in the majority, don’t hold the Tories in terribly high esteem. But what will it take for so many in the south and midlands to say, enough? I cannot believe she would be considered to run up a street. But heh heh, thank you. If we get Indy, we will look at how bad things have been it the last twenty years snd say, fuck it, if we can survive that. With the added bonus fixing all the shot they cunts left will take time. But, we will have time. We are a clever mob, we will get there.
