More specifically, he doubled the newly created higher rate in November 1974, which applied to petrol and luxury goods, but then brought it back down in April 1976. He had reduced the standard rate from 10% to 8% in July 1974.

I don't think cash will be around that much longer. We made strides in that direction during the pandemic and I can only see it going further. Maybe cryptocurrency will become the payment tool of the black economy?
