Raining Cats and Dogs!

Olden days people used to put their pets on top of their thatched rooves. When there was heavy rain it would cause the pets to slide down the rooves and onto the streets below. Voila.

I've always heard that as its dark over Bill's Mothers'. Maybe Bill's Mother and Sam's Grandmother live in the same residential area whereby the weather in said area is constantly overcast causing little or no sunshine, thus giving the area a dark and dingy outlook.
