Bert was the best I've seen. When City were relegated to the old second division, Bert didn't play for the first team until Easter. My dad, an evertonian, always said it was worth the admission price alone to watch Bert and came to the game against Norwich. Bert made a astonishing fingertip save, when the applause died down, my dad said Frank Swift would have caught that, much nodding of heads and 'your right there' comments from the old uns around us. He always said Swifty was the best keeper he had ever seen and that Peter Doherty was the best player.
