Who was there?

I was there and I literally had tears running down my face, although I do not usually show emotion. We hoped against hope that he would return to greatness, but it was not to be.

Thanks a bunch Martin Buchan. I just hope no red swine ends someones career tonight.

Was on the Kippax most emotional game ever, just gutted and proud, was also at the 4-3 game at St James Park 68, believe it will happen.

But on that Boxing Day 1977 his courage and dedication were rewarded, When City's physio Roy Bailey displayed the number 6 card to call off the injured Paul Power, on trotted City sub, Colin Bell, to a deafening roar from the 45,811 spectators.
Great post but I'd have a slight quibble about the above.

We knew in advance he would be in the squad (think it was still only 1 sub in those days) and the excitement among the fans damn nearly matched that for today's game. Everyone hoped he'd start but that was clearly too optimistic. It was then a case of when not if he'd come on. However, there was no subsitution during the game as he came out for the start of the second half.

I was in my usual seat in P block, North Stand but the people sitting by the tunnel who could look over and those opposite in the Kippax who got the first view of him coming up the tunnel and the noise level went up. You knew then he was coming on and it was confirmed a few seconds later when he appeared on the pitch in his sky blue shirt. I don't think anyone in the ground had a dry eye at that point.

Yes, I was there. No doubt, THE best all round player I have seen in a blue shirt since becoming a season ticket holder in 1957.

I was there. Usual spot in the Kippax, level with the 18 yd line at the Platt Lane End (before they segregated it).

One of the most emotional moments I ever experienced at a match. Especially poignant for those of us who also were there the night when Buchan crippled him.

Me too. My season ticket was in the Platt Lane where it met the Main Stand right on the corner flag.

Don't really remember much about it apart from applauding and cheering for what seemed like an eternity!

We are the North stand!

That's where I was on that very special day., season ticket holder, great memories.

My first ever City game was his home debut.

My eldest son is called Colin.

Just watched the 6-1 ready for tonight...

COME ON CITY..................
