Who were you ?

Big Joe when between the jumpers and Micky Channon with the windmill goal celebration when out

Well when I was a kid we were shit and I wasn`t going to be a Rag or Scouse player, so I opted for the one and only Jimmy Greaves.

That notorious City lover Jimmy Greaves. The boozy **** never had a good word for us. I used to like him on Saint and Greavsie, even though the show seemed to be sponsored by LFC. Then I read an article he wrote in one of the nationals in the late 70s/early 80s and he made it clear he didn't like us very much. In fact he absolutely fucking hated us.

Yes mate I`ve read that over the years and had I realised then as a 10/11 year old I`d probably have been Alf Gray. ;)

Saw them playing at Platt Lane with the A team. both good. They never quite made it though but were

I seem to have a recollection of them playing with Lakey as he battled to return. Does the time scale fit?

Bit out mate, they were 13/14 in 94, one of them was at Manchester boys with me then got picked up by burnely... Don't know if they went on to anything..

Franny Lee usually; he lived near us too and I remember getting his signed autograph when he lived at the Stanneylands Stud, although he was a miserable **** about it ;)

Thanks for that - it's good to know I am getting more senile!

It was rare that I saw the kids playing on a Saturday morning at Platt Lane so when I remembered Lakey running around in his knee brace and seeing the two twins so much alike I connected the two.

On second thoughts Saturday mornings where the time when you queued to get away tickets at Maine Road under the old system. At least I can remember some of the faces from the queue when I see them nowadays, older perhaps not wiser;-).

I didn't play football but when I played tennis I'd wish I was Chris Evert.
Does that count?

I hated playing football or rugby or any contact sport back in the day !
It is called the beautiful game because it is beautiful to watch with a pie and a pint and not because you thought you were the dogs bollocks or second cumming in your local amatuer team.

To me jim to me...On the wing Dave pass it through
One two one two Graham !
On me head on me head barry cross it cross it you clown .. ..
Through ball through ball
Man on man on man fooking on !
Close him down close him down
Referee reeferee !

Falls to the floor with utter tedium and mind blowing boredom ;

I was more your Casper type of team mate.

I was Colin Bell. Then I was Dennis Tueart for a bit and then Colin Bell again. There were quite a few Colin Bells where I lived.
