Who's going to Lech Poznan? Squeaky Bum Time!!!

Thanks for the info - are those prices quoted in GBP? £8-10 for a taxi is right up there with our airport black cabs!! The bar run by the Lech fans (in an earlier post), is that also in the Old Town?
Cheers

Hi Bulgarski St, you did offer, so first question!! We've booked into a pension near the rail station. Where is the best place for drinking (before and after the game), is it the old town? If so. what is the best way to get to and from the stadium?
Cheers

Hi sktooblue

Yes, the best place for drinking is Old Town ( Stary Rynek ).

From the Old Town You must go to the Wrocławska Street ( Walk about 5 min - 360 m in a straight line) Take the tram number 13 and get off after 10 stops ( crossroads Grunwaldzka St & Bułgarska St. On the day of the Match almost all of tram passengers at this line will be fans :) You must buy tram ticket for 30 min - £0,6 or You can buy "48h" ticket & than for 2 days You can go where You want by tram & bus ( day & night ) - price £5,5
Tram/bus connections -> http://poznan.jakdojade.pl/?locale=en

or simply catch a taxi ( 15 min from Old Town to the stadium - price £8-10 )

If you want go by tram give me the address of your hotel. I will write You what tram You should take.

cheers

One last question (for now) Bulgarska. I've been trying unsuccessfully to get info from Polrail regarding train prices & times from Berlin to Poznan on match day. Can you help?

Try this and you can set it to English.

There is a mini bus service that goes from both Belin airports to Poznan & will also do return trips. Group bookings.

Thanks Szcz....... but I've tried that website for the trains - I can see the time table but not the fares.
The bus website doesn't offer Poznan as an option.
Cheers

Soz -

Try this from both Berlin Ariports

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.berlinexpress.pl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.berlinexpress.pl/</a>

They seem to run quite a few times a day and only 110 pln one way (22.9 GBP) is not bad.

I'll keep on looking for others, as there is quite a lot of traffic now running between Berlin - Szczecin (where I am) - Poznan.

Becareful though if your bying train tickets in Poland as it is so easy to get the wrong ticket as there are many different types of trains, and the train staff are sometimes far from helpful.

Also I would not expect there to be any trouble at the game, (although every club has its own idots, so it can't be ruled out 100%).
Poznan is the next big power in Polish football with a brand new stadium and a growing fan base, and if managed right could be unstoppable for the next few years at least.

Another wanring. Polish Police. They are a nightmare, and from my experience of watching Polish football over the past 5 years, will look to start trouble or provoke trouble just so they can kick lumps out of you.

Don't cross them, really, don't try to be cleaver or cheeky or have a joke with any of the match Police as they normally don't need any excuse to lash out, and its more fun for them if your a foreigner also.

There is a US-based Poznan fan on Twitter called @KubaLech who posted this within the last couple of hours:

"New stadium cleared by UEFA! All Europa League home games will be in Poznan after all."

It turns out the location of our game was in doubt before today. On 2/9, this was posted on their blog:

"Yesterday, the Lech leadership revealed they had received a 25-page UEFA report with other problems with the stadium that need to be addressed before the first home Europa League match, September 30th vs. Red Bull Salzburg.  If not, then Lech will have to play their Europa League games at the home of Zawisza in Bydgoscz."

Unless I've missed it I haven't heard anything about this while we've all been merrily booking flights and accommodation. Would have been nice to have been warned by the club, but it looks like the game goes ahead as planned.
