Who's had some glory since 1976?

Prior to the Carling Cup semi-final against Utd last season, I think KOTK published an article listing all the teams that had reached a major semi since we had against Ipswich in 1981. It made for a depressing read, something like 50 teams as I recall (although I may be mistaken), including such football luminaries as Stockport County and Chesterfield.

Prior to the Carling Cup last season! The list is now obsolete! The relief when that third goal went in against Arsenal.

Luton have won a trophy since we did. They're now a Conference side.

Oh dear. Beginning to wish I'd never asked the question

Wimbledon technically went out of business despite their mutation to MK Dons or reformation as AFC Wimbledon. The latter being a Conference side, too.

i dont need cups or titles for glory. Just following my beloved man city is enough. Brought up with blue blood in my veins by my late father, bless his soul. Been a ST holder since 81 and missed no more than 5 at home. Glory to me is just turning up week after week. And love to our owners, they will bring more glory to this great club of ours. 30,000 in 3rd league - beat that. CTID

Good post; I still want a trophy though. Not too much to ask for after 34 years, is it?

On the radio this afternoon they mentioned this weekends Liverpool/West Ham game is a re-run of a recent cup final. Got me thinking about the lucky Hammers fans having had a recent cup final outing, and then Pompey's recent appearance etc.

Anyone know how many other English teams have won something (Europe, PL, FA Cup, League Cup) or even been to a cup final, since we last won the League Cup?

I'd be interested how many teams there are. Different standards are mentioned by different clubs all the time (e.g. the Arsenal trophy "drought" of 5 whole years).

Since we got to the FA Cup final in 1981 these teams have won or finished runners up in the major competitions:

Premier League / Division One:
Chelsea
United
Arsenal
Blackburn
Leeds
Liverpool
Everton
Villa

Newcastle

That's an eye opener! That's why so many of our fans have a "lickle City" outlook of ourselves! In that time we've only finished in the top half of the top league 9 times and no higher than 5th at any time!

We've actually only finished higher than 5th in the top league 5 times, yes just 5, since the war! We are by no means a small club, and before the war we were a proper big club, but we aren't as big as many would like to think!

FFS Stop judging how sorry we fel for ourselves by that which others have achieved, if you want to know how rough some fans rides have been, take a look at Birmingham!

Birmingham City, established 1885, honours: league cup winners 1963.

Now that might put a bit more of a perspective on things, winning one trophy in 135 years, now that's a fucking drought.
