Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.....

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

Kevin Kennedy and Bruce (Les Battersby) in front of me at some game in the 90s.
Me and my sister sat having a pint with Neil McNab in one of the inner lounge bars during the Quinn v Saunders penalty save game.
Fulham away has been pretty good form - out of the last 4 I've met John Stapleton and sat next to Uli Hoeness's son in the City end.

Patrick viera and summerbee :D

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

I was at a reserve match against Forest in the early eighties whilst doing a degree at the Poly. I recall a certain left back called Earl Barrett was playing for us and he was silky smooth, very promising.

I had a Kippax season ticket which permitted entrance to the Main Stand, which tended to be the only stand open for reserve matches, I think. Anyway, sat 3 empty seats to my left was Brian Clough. He was in a trance staring at the game, I didn't bother saying anything.

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

Once when I was at a Derby match I had Matt Busby, Joe Mercer and Bill Shankly two rows behind me, which I thought was quite impressive.

Other than that I've sat next to David Bellamy in a bar, and I quite often bump into Pete Waterman because we move in (some of) the same circles. I'm pretty bad with faces though, so I don't really notice most of the time.

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

Paul lake in the seat behind at the final match V qpr (We're top row, tier 2)

Brucie in the seat behind at the stoke final (club Wembley)

Curly Watts at that away match...

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

The whole of Happy Mondays and various hangers on, on the back row of the Main Stand, in the late 80s.

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

At a reserve team match (just before they stopped having them at maine road altogether) i was sat down and just as we kicked off 5 first team players came and sat next to me! From memory there was Kit Symons, Martyn Margetson, and errrrr i can't remember! The person i was with embarrassed me by asking them if they could take their photo, so somewhere is a picture of this oh so so so so special event (sarcasm here!).

I met Paul McCartney, but it wasn't at football ;)

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

Having been lucky enough to have spent a couple of seasons in the Director's box at Maine Road the list is a pretty long one.

I would like a couple of seasons with that kind of access right now too please.

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

Pete - sat next to him at a handful of games

The bloke who looks like Martin Jol with curly hair

Just in front of Noel Gallagher at Watford in 2006. My god, that was a dire game.

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

I sit near where injured players often watch the games at City with their families.

De Jong was there last season after he'd left us, Richards has been there a couple of times.

I haven't sat next to anyone famous............

I did however sit right next to Led Zeppelin's John Bonham in a pub in Kidderminster around 1978.

I said "Hello John"

He said "Fuck off".

:)

Robert Plant stood behind me at a Prince concert.

Just thought of another. Billy from the TV series Bread had a season ticket infront of me for years as well.

Does he still go and is he still an actor, anyone know ?

He doesnt go much nowadays as he DJs most Friday and Saturday nights and he is a hen pecked under the thumb wuss. He also has acting schools.

I dont remember him ever having a ST but he would sit with dj Mike Pickering in the Maine Stand.

Was at wembley 99 with him, Kevin Kennedy, Tilly Vosburgh (eastenders) sat behind Noel Gallacher in the olympic gallery.

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

Was sat in front of Kenny Dalgleish and his tribe watching Phantom at Manchester Opera House about 20 years ago - one of his brats moaned all the way through about not being able to see past the tall bloke in front of them!

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

I'm sure a lot of you have had the pleasure in being sat next to me :)

That reminds me that I sat just behind Mike Pickering at West Ham a couple of seasons ago.
I sat with Mike and Nick a few times at Maine Road. Nick also introduced me to Ray Winstone before one West Ham game when we in Kippax hospitality.

Re: Who's the most famous person you have stood/sat next to.

He made us sit down :(

We must have been in close proximity at Watford.

I remember standing close to Kevin Kennedy at Oldham with all the City support chanting "Cuuuurly" at him.

Sat next to Franny last time we played at Swindon.

I have been in the players' lounge at City a few times (Pearce's last season). Watched one game that season with Didi Hamann when he was injured.

Was in the Directors' Lounge at Fulham away last season and met Buzzer, Marwood, David Bernstein. Hugh Grant and John Motson were also in there.
