Why are English managers so garbage?

What you cunts on about? Stevie G won one trophy out of 12 up here. You’re so ungrateful. It’s makes sick.

as a player, Pierce gave no clue as to what he would be like as an anaestheti/manager, i never figured out how Clough won two Euro cups. Lilleshall was supposed to be the epicentre of how to be a successful manager(at a price !!) . Inspiring the players, backing them, knowing when to kick arse, not sure those skills can be learned. Shankly, Mercer Busby and a few others seemed to have them, but back then, football clubs were nothing like what they are now, off the pitch more so. One thing is apparent, a successful playing career does not gurantee a successful managerial career.

Liam Rosenior is becoming quite interesting at Hull City. He’s building a decent young team that plays good football and are pinching above their weight. Potter was doing well at Brighton and Howe had a really good start at Newcastle. The last English managers to win the major prizes though were Howard Wilkinson with the league at Leeds and Joe Royle with the cup at Everton. That’s truly shocking.

Didnt redknapp win a cup with portsmouth

Nationality is irrelevant, there's been toss managers from across the globe.

What I will say is, giving retired players management roles on the ground they were a great player isn't helping (Gerrard, Granny Shagger, Lampard).

Is poch doing a better job than Potter even with an improved squad to last year?
Spot on...prime example was Rooney replacing Eustace. I didnt follow it properly, but i seem to remember people and birmingham fans questioning the decision. And hasnt the granny shagger made birmingham worse since he arrived

They got American investment who wanted a big name, Rooney actually did a very good job with DC United by all accounts and did ok in extremely difficult circumstances with Derby. Birmingham was a disaster from the start, the fans didn't want the previous incumbent sacked in the first place so turned on him very quickly.
