Why are humans the only species to need clothes ?

Well not exactly fur but a thin hair. We shed most of it before birth but premature babies can have it.

Why have they never adapted to local conditions like every other animal/bird ?

I would say that we are the only species that are narcissistic i.e aware of their own persona and how we look to other members of the same species.
Our brains have evolved to enable analysis and recognises other peoples reactions.
It is also, like others have said, our way of survivability by being able to change our attire to suit the environment.
