Why are the players training with weights in South Africa?

Seems a bit 1970s and amateurish to me.

WHat training effect are we looking for?

Are we just trying to make the training sessions hard?

This is going to make recovery from the stamina training longer and will have absolutely zero long term effect. If anything its detrimental as it eats into recovery and can lead to overtraining

A weight program to target weak muscle groups in certain players may have its place, but there's no point players doing dumbbell presses or flyes. Any short term strength gains will be minimal and quickly lost (unless we plan on doing this throughout the season)

Not impressed

For once Marv,i agree, both in the technique and the weight size,it all looked very toy......

perhaps, given it was an open session,it was simply for effect?

I cant imagine this would be a regular routine.

Being a fat bastard I have no clue about Fitness training however Jose Cabello was the same coach at Malaga and they didn't do too badly so I trust the coach in what he is doing.

This may be a permanent thing now Pelle is in charge?

Looked like they where squatting 70kg in the latest vid, although only half squats this is probably equal to a lot of the players weight?

Marvin, no offence mate, but a lot of your posts are very negative. You need to relax and just enjoy the ride, I'm sure our fitness coaches know what they're doing
Amen..I think the fitness coaches who get paid good money and have found great success in there previous teams might have a better idea in fitness than you marv

I can only assume your point of view is based on your many years as a professional fitness coach.
Either that or you have struggled to find anything credible to have your daily anti-city whinge about today so you decided to wing it and go with talking out of your arse.

I've always thought Marvin to be a positive poster. In any case it's just an observation and a valid talking point.

Thank god there is only a couple more weeks to go to the Premier League starts again if this is what we are down to discussing..
