Why are there so many accidents between J18 & J19 of the M6

I work down south every week and when I'm travelling back up North on a Friday I'm knackered if I leave after 11am. Always at a standstill from Stafford onwards, the roadworks around Knutsford are not helping

I think the worst is that one at Bredbury where you join the motorway in the outside lane! How did it get designed like that?

Haha, I used to work in Bredbury and joined the motorway there every night on the way home. It's ok when you're used to it but I can imagine it being a pretty nervous affair the first time.

Both are as bad as each other Stony. The M6 situation is a joke. I get on at J19 on a Wednesday and at the weekends to get my boy from Liverpool and there's hardly a time when there's not been something happened between 18 and 21 where I join the M62. I've asked the same question many a time and still none the wiser. Only explanation is the motorways are full of cunts who can't drive.

I would subscribe to this! And it's not just motorways. The lane discipline on all roads is appalling. Every matchday I get behind some git who wants to drive at 30mph down Broadway in order to eke out another couple of mpg out of his tank, and when I go in the overtaking lane there's another cnut who wants to do 30mph. Get outta the cuffin way or don't go on the roads on matchdays!

Volume of traffic. Once we're out of the EU and ukip are in charge women and foreigners will not be allowed to drive at peak times so it will all be sorted. I'm having the tracking adjusted on our car so the wife gets gently guided back into the inside lane as she does 50 in the middle one.

I work in Crewe and drove most days Preston to Crewe down the M6 for about 6 months. After numerous meltdowns in my car and hundreds of wasted hours I now get the train every day. The M6 is my vision of hell, 4/5 hours a day every day of the week stuck in traffic jams.

Moving to Hawarden from Stafford mid-month we hope and can't fucking wait to leave the M6 behind... horrible motorway, Our office (I am rarely there) is in Stockport so I'll swap the M6 for the M56 etc..

It always makes me wonder how the fuck people have accidents on it in places where you just don't expect them

Between J18 and 19 there are some ridiculously narrow lanes at the minute but apart from that it may be the usual fuckwittery of middle lane hoggers, LGV drivers who think that an indicator means go NOW!! and twats on mobiles...... the latter being a fucking plague! You can see them a mile off, erratic speed, heads bobbing to read / write texts... they should block phones unless cars are at a standstill

The Bredbury junction was a temporary measure that was never put right
There was a thread on here a while ago and someone posted a link to a site that showed Britain's unfinished motorway junctions
The three in the Manchester area were, Bredbury and the top and bottom of the M67

Back to the M6
The stretch from Junct 16 Stoke to Junc 19 is deemed as the most dangerous piece motorway in Britain. Experts were flummoxed why a straight few miles of motorway could incur so many accidents. But there are issues
You have all the Cheshire towns that border the M6, so from coming up from Staffs and countryside, the motorway from 16 becomes much busier.
Sandbach and Knutsford services are only a few hundred yards away from junctions. Knutsford being ridiculously dangerous as every **** in a car wants to travel at 70mph to get to the sliproad at 19 and try to pull in at the last minute
Hopefully when the by pass is completed it will alleviate a number of the problems
