why car nt we break teams down

Good way to put it. People used to go on about Sven being detached and unemotional. Hughes looking a bit "removed" isn't far off unarsed, in my book.

Too predictable , not enough of the get down and dirty stuff in games when its required.

Happens all too often especially against teams of inferior talent and skill level.

They are far better at doing what is required when the game becomes a scrap which is what they want and dictate because its their best avenue to victory.

We have to learn to overcome this or get better at what these teams do best than they are otherwise these poor results will continue more often than not.

So what can MH do about it from now til the seasons end?

Motivate and instill self belief in the players on match days , they know they can outplay most oppositions so they have to turn that belief into action.

Change tactics and formations to suit us dictating the tempo.

Anything that gives the opposition less time to close us down and pressure the ball carrier into a needless punt that will come straight back or give up possession.

Long balls into the opposition half will get us nowhere , we would be better away from home parking 10 behind the ball than continuing with that style of play hoping we don't make a mistake in the back and hopefully catching the opposition on the break.

If he cannot do that with this squad he may as well look for another job immediately.

Why don't you apply Mancity1? You sound more convincing than our "nick faldo of football"

Wouldn't last two weeks but I would be a hell of lot cheaper until I got the flick (lol).

You would think that players who say they want to be part of something special in times to come would want to and be able to put in a better shift than the ones we have against the likes of Stoke and Portsmouth more recently not to mention a number of others that have been well below par, if not for the supporters at least for their own professional pride but alas the culture at this club in terms of a winning mentality is still miles below where it needs to be.

Everyone at the club from the owners down need to find solutions before we mediocraty becomes the level we strife for on a permanent basis.

We would have liked to have won the game, but we were missing that little moment of magic, that spark of guile. Credit to the opposition, they wanted it more.

BlueRobb, we missed a lot more than a moment of magic, for starters we would have needed 3 of them to have won.

we were appalling against a shit side.
Heads should roll for this one.

and of course 'we would have liked to have won the game" are you on glue?

Echoing Hughes usual post match statements me. Are you serious? What has glue got to do with football? Think Hughes is on glue?

Sorry BluRobb, my mis-understanding. And yes I think MH must sniff glue.
He did look at bit "removed" today

I thought he looked like Sam the Eagle off the Muppet Show today in the post match interview.

My thoughts on this issue:

1. You can not survive against teams with Sol and Distin at the back
without a recognized traditional Centre Forward!

2. You only know the value of somebody when you miss him:
Today we were without Dunne, Richards, Ball/Garrido .... And look how disorganised
our defence looked!!

3. Hughes is the person to blame for one tactical blunder:
How on earth can he throw in an untried right back ( Logan )
when he plays his first choice RB in midfiled?

Hughes out .... But it might have to wait until May!!

We lack the physical presence to bluster our way through two banks of four.

Agreed - the last few games, the opposition's central defenders have had almost nothing to do as we don't have anyone to put them under pressure. The pretty " passing the ball all over the middle of the field football" won't win us games.

Too lightweight and too predictable. Yesterday's team have gone backwards since demolishing Pompey 6-0. Stoke were the worst footballing side that I've seen this season and they beat us. Wigan were poor and we only just beat them. At least Pompey showed some interest in winning - they knew that City were there for the taking.

Midfield system is sorely lacking. 2 DMs starve the front 4 and we don't have enough numbers upfront or if we do the movement and passing is dire. Zabaleta just isn't a defensive midfielder.

is it me or do we struggle to beat anyone when they just sit back on us.with are attackin opions we should be better ok at home but on the road awful

1. We are one-dimensional - we have to play though teams as we have no striker to hold up play. Teams now know that and we are easy to defend.
2. We have a team that is worse than the sum of its parts and we have no striker to hold up play.
3. We have a wafer-thin defence that is constantly under pressure due to having no striker to hold up play.
4. We revert to route-one which makes no sense as we have no striker to hold up play.
5. There is no pace in the team - we have pacey individuals, but no pace in the team and have no striker to hold up play.
6. We play too narrow - as we have no striker there is no point putting crosses in so we always come inside.
7. The lack of the striker puts pressure on all the other positions and therefore players are starting to lose confidence - Micah, Robbie etc
8. This lack of confidence spreads like wildfire and Hughes doesn have the tools to stop it. (Same thing happend at Chelski)

Hughes knows this but his obsession with RSC led us to fail to bring in a striker and it will be his undoing. Pride comes before a fall and both him and BFS will be prime examples of this.
