Why didn't you go to the Leipzig game?

Agree with the points about transport. i don’t live far from Manchester but there’s no way of getting there and back for me that doesn’t seem to be a strong combination of ball ache and cost.

Ticket prices I find quite reasonable for the games we watch, the transport is more the issue with the hassle it adds on top. it stops running too early to be useful or you almost need to book a day off to travel it all! Usually drive now but that is often a pain, spent ages sat in that car park

Chuck in coronavirus still being about (especially on tightly packed transport again) and posing the risk of you having to isolate for 2weeks best case if you catch it.

Combination of these on top of a day at work meant I just cba. And I do enjoy the CL games.

Saying that I’m there this weekend, but can manage the extra factors a bit better with the day.
So glad Covid is going to be over by the weekend, effing sick of it

6 people I know.

4 stopped going to CL matches due to the hassle of getting to and back from the Etihad midweek.

1 was working.

1 gave up trying to get a ticket. Ticket office issues.

All 6 go to the PL games.

Note. I did 2 trips to the Etihad to sort out my ticket before the match.

Group stage games are like unofficial dead rubbers. I’d go if say the last home game of the group affected whether we qualified or not but otherwise I’ve very little interest beyond the mindset of just wanting us to win any game we play

Season card holder, originally from Manchester, but moved to London 4 years ago to start work.

In the past, I’d never miss a game. Since moving to London, I’ve kept my season card going for the premier league, have travelled nearly every home match weekend to Manchester and attended pretty much all of the games.

Makes 0 sense for me to travel back midweek too (and in any case I can’t, because I’m usually working 14 hour days).

Suspect there are many more who make such an effort which is basically ignored by pep’s comments
What is it that you annoys you about Pep's comments? I feel I must be missing something. I watched the interview and all he does is literally invite more fans to attend the game at the weekend because the team will need them.

I hope City fans go to the game realising that they have a part to play instead of just sitting back waiting to be entertained.

In light of Pep's comments, if you're a season card holder, why didn't you buy a ticket and go last night?

It isn't a go at people because I'm a season card holder and haven't been to a CL game since the Liverpool quarter final
In my case it comes down to cost
I spend nearly £800 on a season card and that's enough.
My exception would be for very special games or very competitively priced matches
Read this and tell me why you were so irked that you had to start a topic

"I'd like more people to come on Saturday, we need the people. I invite all our people to come Saturday, 3 pm, to watch the game."

You're being told you're needed and that upsets you?

Let's be honest..there's not a problem about attendances at weekend games..
It's midweek cup games that are more of a problem partly because of the travel issues around the ground and possibly because fans can't always afford the expense moreso if they live outside Manchester area.
Tickets are cheap enough for most cup games but you then have to factor in travel food drink etc.. possibly time off work as well.
The club need to look at the prices they charge for individual league games they are ridiculous and if I didn't have a season ticket I couldn't afford to go to the games.
Pep might not have meant anything untoward with his comments but fuck me they feed the dickheads who love to slag off our club.
I personally don't give a fuck how many attend the games as long as I'm there and I just laugh at the rag twats who say anything about attendances as most of them never go to the swamp anyway.

I'm lucky enough to be able to afford to go live close enough to the stadium to be back in the local for a pint after the game with lads I've gone to games with for years.Last night got to watch a cracking game of football for £20.I'd never call anyone for not going everyone has different reasons sadly last night they missed a great game but generally we have a great fan base considering where we're based and quite a lot of us watched crap for 30 years yet still kept turning up in numbers a lot of clubs could only dream of.

Perhaps due to the way Pep’s comments have been reported it’s a topic that needs discussion. Ten pages of comments with no blue on blue slagging also proves it’s a matter for discussion
if you read my post, you will see that I am a season card holder, so in all probability will be at the ground on Saturday
if you don’t want to add something to the discussion you can always find some more Guardian articles to post and then tell us not to read them

oh and I find it quite ironic that you have a go at me for being “irked” yet you are being irked every day by the Guardian and keep posting about it

I would have sent this via a PM but you won’t allow
