Why do folk in the UK use the word "guys" instead of lads, blokes or boys?

I stumbled across this butchers shop in the village of Jump, Barnsley about 17 years ago. At the time they were 32p each iirc.I love a good pork pie and these beauts are the best I've ever had.

Feel like the OP has dropped a bomb in this thread with his gender splitting foods and obscure descriptions of what could be custard tarts (definitely liked by the ladies) or custard slices. Hope he comes back to clear this up but without throwing anymore random foods into the equation

ah but they are patisserie rather than 'tarts'. Hence the price difference.

Custard slice is a very common name for the british version of mille feuille, the two pastry version we do is sold either with a creme pat (custard slice) or chantilly cream (cream slice) both are called vanilla slices in the UK.

I have made all 3 MF/CS/CS many times for functions and heard them all used in normal conversation and the catering industry


I tend to use the fillings name for which it is.

A bavarian doughnut isa normal doughnut with Bavarian creme piped into the centre, it's filling is thicker than a standard custard doughnut.

As have I mate, are you a barmcake, muffin, cob, breadcake or bap guy ?

I take it custard cakes are custard slices?

I know lots of women like all of them, and some of them.

On that list I would only say porks pies are extremely favourable more amongst males, but not exclusively liked by them.

Mrs KS eats pork pies as though a world shortage were about to occur.
