Now that I've thought about it and re-read the question, to be specific it probably has something to do with swallowed air versus processed.
You swallow loads of air per day and it goes through your digestive system quickly. Other farts are made because a gas is a byproduct of the digestive enzymes breaking down your food, which I presume will be the smellier ones.
I imagine that this is a factor too but I don't know to what degree. I'm going to see if any research has been done on this incredibly important question, right after I finish this call to Henry Kissinger and get Obama off hold.
