Why do we pander to Africa?

But the OP is right about it being a dangerous crime ridden country.

Wifey has relatives who live over there and their house is in a compound surrounded by two electric fences. And before anyone says it, no, it's not a prison.

My Mother and Father in law visited there eighteen months ago and said it is a fabulous country with so much to see, however they were chauffered round and couldn't believe how vigilant people had to be.

Hmmm... "crime filled, scum filled, dangerous" to describe a whole nation and the people who live in it, is in no way racist, or xenophobic at all? You sure about that? I have strong doubts you or the OP have even set foot there, and are just going off Daily Mail generalisations.

To be fair UG, I could use all the same terms about London New York, Bejing, or Manchester (well certain bits of them anyway), is that really racist ? or xenophobic ?

In my opinion not really, its just an opinion.

PDC has shown his colours often enough here, and I don't doubt he is racist, but this post isn't in my opinion.

I'm not disputing the fact crime goes on there, ofcourse it does, but its the same with everywhere else in the world. You mention the story of your wifes relatives, I know some friends who live in a rough part of Manchester in a gated community, with lots of CCTV, and different problems go on there, yet it would be completely wrong to generalise the whole of Manchester or Britain on that area and experiences. Everywhere has its bad areas where you would avoid.

But he wasn't describing a City though, but a country.

I'm not talking about walking round Soweto at midnight. We're talking about almost everywhere. An example is that it's the norm for car jackings at gunpoint to take place at traffic lights. Drivers do all they can not to stop at a red light, including driving through them.

My in laws were in a car driving along a duel carriageway and could see below them a winding countryside type road that ran alonside miles of empty beautiful beaches.
They asked why, as they had loads of time, couldn't they drive along that road. Apparently it was too dangerous because of car jackings and no one visited those beaches for fear of being robbed

Please tell me what the poster has said that is racist? This is the problem with you and your liberal ilk. Is it because Africa is a predominately black country and the poster has said some negative things about it?- does that constitute as racism?
Wow

Liberal? I have no interest in Politics, before I'm accused of some left wing liberal. Hmmm... "crime filled, scum filled, dangerous" to describe a whole nation and the people who live in it, is in no way racist, or xenophobic at all? You sure about that? RACISM---"Discrimination or prejudice based on race"

I think you need to look up the dictionary definition of 'racist' ....so I will ask you once again, what has the OP said that make him a racist in this thread?

OK, if I say...... England, US, Jamaica, Afghanistan.....still not racist is it ? All are full of all the things he describes, in my opinion. There were an awful lot of "scum" around CoMS yesterday evening, plus some crime, and according to some it was "dangerous", just for example.

I don't disagree about the nature that a number of PDC's posts are racist (and he's had warnings and temporary bans), but as a moderating team we have to be careful how we describe "racist", and I don't personally think this topic was.

And I also guarantee that tourists will be stabbed, shot and murdered in robberies whilst visiting SA for the World Cup

Why does the IOC pander to the UK?

Full of scumbags, has an official terrorist threat level as 'Substantial' meaning a terrorist attack is a 'Strong possibility'.

Not wanting this to come across the wrong way, but if these terrorists have anything about them they'll be planning for the London Olympics now, do you have confidence in our security services to make the Olympics completely safe, not just for the athletes but for every spectator as well?

Perhaps these major events are safer not being held in the Western World?

That is a pretty weak definition you found. Doesn't mention at all insulting language used to describe people, and I find particularly the words "scum filled" to be quite insulting. He described South Africa as a scum filled place, so all South Africans are scum. Yeah, I think thats racist.

It's not racist but just a sweeping statement.I've been twice...lovely country, lovely people but when you have whole towns(not just the odd area) that are no-go places for white people then you realise that all is not well.
They, even after the ruling parties changed, have a very bad human rights problem.Mandela, for all his awards just turned everything around and didn't sort anything out.Whites in charge abusing blacks suddenly turned into blacks in charge abusing whites.

The World Cup shouldn't have gone there in the first place.
