Why Don't Asians Support City?

Always thought this myself. You'll never see a city shirt on an Asian in rusholme but you'll see loads of rags. Just before I get quoted on red cafe for saying that... Must be the only place in Manc u get that as I see far more city shirts out n about. Even all my asian mates are rags!

Go around the City and you will see Asians(Pakistanis, Indians, Sikhs, etc) wearing United tops. Especially the kids.

TBH, I can't remember the last time I saw an Asian wearing a City shirt around the city or seeing an Asian at a City match.

Honestly.. how many of them go to the Swamp? If the answer to that is not many, then the ones wearing tops are are glory hunters and they aren't going to be following City are they?

I know what you mean though, you would think that we would have had a higher Asian following considering our roots and the proximity to Rusholme/ Longsight etc, but then again as a general rule football grounds in the 1970's and 80's were hardly the most PC environment and attendances were dropping until the explosion of the Premier League. By then of course United were in their pomp and we were heading in the opposite direction. That's my take on it, although I do see more Asian faces at City these days.

All the lads I know support Liverpool... one supports Chelsea.

I think that's because a large percentage of the overall Asian influx was in the 70's and 80's, about when Liverpool were THE team in England. In most cases it's stayed in the family so to speak. I think more or less all football following Asians I know support or 'follow' Liverpool. However I do agree that football isn't so prominent in Asian households yet. There was a decent article in FourFourTwo a while back about Asians in football but I can't find it.

At the Sunderland away game last season. There was a Sikh man with his two young daughters about 3 rows below me. I was quite surprised to say the least as I didn't think we really had an Asian following

I remember watching the Wembley play off final vs Gillingham years ago in the Seymour in Chorlton/Whalley Range. The table behind where we were was full of Sikh blues.

I'm Asian and I support City. I think mainly because my Dad was good friends with Paul Hart in high school.
Saying that, it's just me,my dad and an uncle who are blues, the rest (uncles and about 20 odd cousins) are either rags or follow the dippers.
Go to games when I can and to be honest it is like spot the Asian.

Was about to say it's interesting that there aren't many Asians who go to games. Maybe the majority of the Asian community doesn't see value for money in going to the games when you can watch so many games on telly or online?
