Why have we been written off?

I cannot wait for the season to start, I'm nervous but growing more optimistic about our chances of winning the league or at least finishing 2nd again.

However all of the press, social media and YouTube fan channels (not mcfc fan channels), they're writing us off. I've even heard some predictions we could finish 7th!!! (Haha). But my question is, why are we being written off? Great goalie, a strong midfield when everyone's fit and a forward line of sterling, aguero and silva... The only 'weakness' is the defence and to be honest (forget about the Stuttgart friendly) I think it's been highly exaggerated, it isn't as bad as people say. I'm not getting down about what people are saying I'm just wondering what you guys think about this, and why exactly we are now seen as a weaker force.

Anyway roll on Monday!!! Let's prove these wallys wrong!!!! COME ON CITY!!!!!

We lost to Madrid with two youngsters in central defence Stuttgart was a mere aberration. Very confident we will challenge if not win the league.

That team, right there, is so bloody strong that Yaya Toure, club legend, and one of the best CM's the premier league has ever seen will struggle to get in the starting line up.

That team, right there, is going to win the league, reach the Champions League Semi-Final (and from there, who knows!?), and win a cup.

No other team outside of Spain and Munich can compete with that. And if we bring in one or two more faces on top of that before the window closes? Jeeeez!

Delph ahead of Yaya? I think Delph's a good solid signing but he's not even a quater of the player Yaya is.

Interesting you went with a 4231. Do you really think Pelle will give up on 433 so quickly? I don't. I also don't see Pelle dropping Yaya, and there's just no way we can be secure in the center with Yaya as one of the 2. He could work in a midfield 3 though.

I like your confidence and especially the faith you have in signing KdB. From what I've seen of him, I'm honestly more excited for KdB than Sterling.

That said, if we do play with the squad and lineup you suggest, I do believe your confidence is warranted!

Look at the positives regarding the media stance....

They've written us off and don't think we'll achieve much this season (before a ball has even been kicked)

So if we do win any silverware, I'm sure it will be of surprise for the Gutterpress and I expect them to congratulate City on winning something when they had us down as winning fuck all.

I doubt they will give us credit as they are ignorant bastards, but the articles/spin they write says more about them than it does about City.

This made me laugh whilst in the barbers.... Kids playing FIFA videogame in there, one team is the Rags, other team us City.
The two boys had Barca shirts on, and started squabbling as they both wanted to be City.
I piped: why don't you just choose Barca?
And one of them said: because City are well better.

8yr old kids know which team is the best in the world... Shows how fucking bitter the journos are.

Quality mate :)

How I wish the betting odds reflective the so called informed opinion and also if I was an LFC supporter I would be taking advantage of the 20 to 1 available today for their chances to win PL.

I am now confused as to who is right, surely they know better than the SkyBet odds don't they ?

It's quite simple. A certain section of the media realise that in order to appease their audience, writing off City is the way forward. The utd,Liverpool, and Arsenal fans lap this shit up because it makes them feel better. Ex pros will always be happy to take the pieces of silver on offer to voice their opinions and papers will always be happy to pay it. It makes perfect business sense for all involved.
We just have to crack on and worry about ourselves. Fuck'em all and enjoy us winning the league.

True, we haven't won anything with Yaya playing in the middle of the park.
If you haven't noticed how every year Yaya is less and less interested in defending and has become myopically focused on pushing forward to attack, and how porous this has made our midfield, then you just haven't been paying attention. True we won the league two seasons back, but that was more down to a combination of rampant, record-breaking goalscoring efforts, and underperformance by our closest competitors. We won in spite of the midfield, not because of it. Every year Yaya gets a little older and a little lazier. He is now 32 years old. But you still want to play him in a midfield 2? Think, man!
