he played there for hamburg and for belgium
and thats where he will play for us next season

its a bluemoon myth he will play at cb for us, for the above reason, but also because most fans want him on their team sheet but know he won't make it in midfield. I'm getting bored of saying it, but I'll say it again just for your benefit....

Kompany will not be a starting CB for us next season, in fact, he probably won't be a starting midfielder. Popularity with the fans does not get you a starting place, nor do fan's opinions on a player's 'better' or 'favourite' position effect anything.
 
Had we not got Barry I'd guarantee Kompany would not only start but also had been our captain...quality player.
