Why Moyes & Everton have us over a barrel...

cheers,
just wanted to come here and have a read of what you all thought of the lescott saga, im pers fed up now,
i think most everton fans would of forgive him sooner or later had he gone, if we had the back up, but his main prob was keeping very quiet, then on friday at the malaga game, he came up to all the fans clapping them back when we sang his name(yes we do sing) then he hands in his transfer request with 4 days till we play arsenal.

Without the last sentence , I may have held my hands up , but it's so typical of mooner members to feel they need to resort to abuse .
What a dick you are m8 .
Ah I see it now you're allowed to throw abuse around left, right and centre but when some goes your way you have to have a moan and cry about it, I was justified in what I said and I stand by it as it is an accurate portrayal of how you bahave while on our forum.

spot on mate - this particular poster is regularly abusive and continually sly and annoying but gets away with it time and time again

Jees...I remember seeing SWP at the side of the pitch an hour before kick off on a boiling hot day at Macc Town in a pre-season friendly....he never appeared on the pitch.....then news went round he'd gone to Chelsea for a medical, and the deal was done.
I was gutted but I understood his and our reasons.
We were stoney broke,he was the hottest young player in England, and Chelsea were the hottest team on the block.

I remember young Joseph Barton putting in a transfer request the day before deadline day, telling us all he wanted "Champions league football...."after we'd chanted his name and backed him against all and sundry over his increasingly dubious behaviour.

I also remember a certain Andy Hinchcliffe going to a certain club in Liverpool to "play at a higher level,"and me being devastated at the apparent injustice of one of our young "famous five" leaving us...

I can go back even further and recount tales of favourite City players who were either sold against their will to teams around us to pay off debts or the chairman's folly... or went to pastures new for apparent "better prospects..."-fans favourites like Paul Stewart,Gary Owen,Gary Flitcroft,Niall Quinn,Peter Barnes,Kinkladze,Ian Bishop,Anelka.....the list is endless.

Whenever we've had a "gem" at City-it's always been a matter of when, not if,they would be pulled from our grasp to realise their potential somewhere else.

But one thing we have always done well at City is shrug our shoulders, pick ourselves up and get on with it.

It hurts but as we've spent thirty-odd years being told by our rivals...-"that's football."

hi
so im an everton fan,(no abuse please) ive been having a quick read of some of your post!
and i do think some of you have it spot on, JL will go but our main prob is if he goes now we only have yobo left and hes going to african nations in oct/nov (i think) we played phil nev CB on friday so if thats moyes plan if he does go i dont know, nobody wants to lose one of there better players but he is replaceable, unlike cahill or arteta!
bring on the abuse lol

Arteta is good, thought he's been injured hasn't he? Is he fit now or will he miss the start of the season? (I don't really keep up with other squad's injuries, we've enough of our own to follow!).

Fellani impressed me last season - I must admit I'm little surprised you haven't included him in your list. I guess he has only had one season though but he does seem a good player.

I think it's getting to the point now where both sets of fans are getting sick of this Lescott thing... I've got a feeling that if he plays on saturday it's all over. Would be great to see him in a City shirt on Wednesday night though :) :) :)

I've got a theory why Everton have us over a barrel with regard to Lescott and can hold out for as much money as they want or just kill the thing altogether...

It's all to do with the world cup - Everton cannot be forced to sell (unless Lescott has a buyout clause and since we've heard nothing about it then it must either be too high or non existant) now normally if a player is desperate to leave and makes that clear to the club then they will sell because they don't want a sulky player who won't give their best.

Unfortunately for us there is no way Lescott would throw a wobbly in a world cup year... if he stays at Everton he will work his nuts off so that he stays in the England team. Moyes and Everton know this and so they know that they can keep him for another season without any difficulties whatsoever, by which time we'll have moved on to another of our targets.

P.S. Mods this is a Moyes thread more than a Lescott thread so if you could refrain from merging it in with the unwieldy Lescott (Merged) thread where it will just get buried then I would be very greatful.

Yeh like he's really gonna dislodge Fredinand and Terry..............he'll be a squad player at best.

If I were him I'd be thinking about the world cup after South Africa when he can be at a top club ie ours, having won something and be first choic for England.

Yes he's going to face competition from Terry and Ferdinand (if they are both fit - which is by no means certain) but if Moyes were to bench him or he was to go on strike then he has no chance of even making the squad. Footballers are an egoistic bunch as a rule and believe they can fight their way into the team - but you can't do that if you're not even in the squad.

It could go in the fornicator thread.

Good post. If Joleon doesn't get on with things should he remain with us, he'll damage his chances of playing for England as well as his chances at club football. If you guys fail to bring him to Eastlands now, I don't think you'll be back in January anyway. You'll go elsewhere, and either buy better for the same money, or the same as Joleon for less. So what does he do then? Additionally, Joleon is popular in the squad. There is no way he would go on an extended sulk because it would alienate him from his friends. I'm totally confident that he'll conform to the Everton way should he stay.

After Everton's 6-1 mauling at the hands of Arsenal I would like to retract my earlier statement... If he plays like that again the only way he'll get anywhere near the England team is if he buys a seat in the front row.

I wonder what that result will have done for his transfer value? He certainly didn't look like a £20m defender that's for sure...
