Why no pen?

Yes Barca should have been given a spot-kick in the first half and yes they scored a perfectly legit goal that was chalked off. But just concentrating on the baffling decision not to award us with a pen I'm really curious if anyone has an inkling as to WHY this decision was reached?

Because the ref saw the offence clear as day. And it's not even up for debate whether Pique collided with Dzeko and took his legs away.

So it is not down to interpretation surely? The ref couldnt have believed for example that Dzeko made a meal of the challenge.

So what was his thought process?

The only possibility for me - and its a reach - is that he perceieved Pique to be falling after losing his balance and thus accidentally collided with Dzeko. So there was no intent.

Anyone else got a theory because, aside from the above, I'm fucking stumped.

I will say what you wanted too say mate.

Ref was a fucking cheat end of, His fuck ups first half against Barca will have been pointed out to him and he then went on to give us absolutely nothing as his way of saying sorry.

Both legs we had shit, cheating refs!

He didn't want to award the penalty, simple as that... whatever his thought process was last night with every decision was absolutely woeful... was I right in hearing he reffed a world cup game and made an pigs ear of it aswell?

Referees in these CL ties don't think. They respond to a situation by blowing a whistle, very much like Pavlov and his dogs. The ref in the first leg sees Messi fouled in the proximity of the penalty area and awards a penalty. No thought process involved other than checking the colour of the shirt that has hit the deck. Messi in the Nou Camp? I was shocked that Stephane'll Annoy didn't knock his teeth out getting his garlic-tainted breath to rattle the pea in his whistle. And the Dzeko All-Day-Pen? See the Messi pen at The Etihad. Sky blue shirt hits the deck - no pen! That's the way Platini likes it. And I think I'll get down to our local bookie today to put some money on Steffi Lannoy getting the gig in Lisbon!

As soon as my renegade Evertonian offspring texted me his name I knew from past experience we had a first class tit. He's got previous. I just can't remember from where, but he has made a complete lash up of at least one match. Two matches now! He'll go far in Uefa circles.

Same referee who ruled out a legitimate goal for us at the Etihad against Bayern in 2011 and never awarded a penalty that night either. He was nearly as bad as Kassai in the first round in Munich when we should have been awarded two penalties in the opening minutes.

^^^This is why I'm done with CL football, we truly don't stand a chance.^^^
