Let me tell you the story behind each of those three transfers.Robert Jordan said:Have a look at this: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/mancini-reveals-three-failed-signings-which-wouldve-won-man-city-consecutive-titles-3967496#.Udmm2tiYAzY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/ ... dmm2tiYAzY</a>
Sacked Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini says there were three signings he wanted made last summer.
Manchester United beat City for Robin van Persie, while Mancini admits he also wanted Chelsea winger Eden Hazard.
In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Mancini said: “Immediately after we won the championship, I thought that three transfers were important.
“Van Persie? Everyone knew, it was not a mystery. We had an agreement and he knew he would be the man who made a difference.
“But we did not move, as we didn’t move for Daniele de Rossi and Eden Hazard, purchases I said would win titles. It is no coincidence that the title was won by the team that took van Persie.”
De Rossi simply didn't want to come. What should we have done?
Hazard had deals in place with us and Chelsea but we wouldn't meet certain financial demands made at the last minute. That's the same as Isco. We have a principle that we won't be held to ransom by agents and we will lose players because of that.
RVP was a done deal for a long time but Mancini was told one forward would have to go to accommodate him (preferably Balotelli who was proving an embarrassment). Either he refused to sell Mario or Mario refused to go so eventually RVP did a deal with the Rags.
So Mancini can claim what he wants but it's not his money he was spending and if we're going to be run like a business then we have to ensure we don't pay out money we don't need or can't afford to.
