Why the hate for Robbie Fowler?

Terrible, terrible signing.

As a previous post stated, it was either sign Fowler or loose our Chairman ( Bernstein) .

The loss of Mr Bernstein was a disaster, and we were very, very fortunate that the Sheik rescued us from the brink.

Didn't hate him at all.

At the time the rags were our biggest games and he was always up for playing them. He had a knack of winding up Gary Chuckle.

His mate McMinimum was a **** who took the piss.

In his book he's quite complementary about city.. especially the fans

He expresses his frustration that we never saw the best of him because of a nagging back injury that he couldn't shake off

He is a really sound bloke and the type of guy you could go for a pint with. Totally humble and asked me about city and how we played against Sevilla - he'd obviously heard how good we'd been and was really complimentary about us

I just don't think it worked out for him at at City. But I'm still grateful for the goals against United, and the fact he hates them as much as me will always make him a good lad in my book.

I've cut your post a bit but that's how I'd expect him to be.

His heart is obviously in Liverpool, but we've had many players who have put less effort in than him for us.

I suspect he had either some sort of long-term niggle or metabolic issues as he always seemed to be trying to get fighting fit but never made it.

Joined us at the end of his career so was never going to rip up trees and hated the rags.

Lots of mentions about the penalty miss, as a side note that was one great day, Mary D's was bouncing afterwards as only we can do in defeat.

Really wanted him to do well but it was clear injuries had taken its toll. Very Falcao-esque signing.

That and Anelka never passing to him meant it was a bit of a disaster. His best form for us was when Anelka was out of the team.

I thought it was because when he left us for the dippers he said something along the lines of "I'm going to start trying now and get fit". Arsehole.

Read this thread, theres lots of replies on why.
Your last two posts to others saying that posts showing he is hated makes me question your reasons for starting the thread

Naturally if you start a thread posing a question. Others generally answer the question.
In your case you posed the premise that Fowler was hated and you asked why. Therefore, quite naturally, people who disliked him have answered your question for you. QED you claim he is hated by City fans, and yet I would surmise the fact that the vast majority haven't answered shows that he's not quite as hated as you would like it seem.
And for that I question your reasons.

I always liked Fowler, but on here people always seem to not particularly like him. So people have given reasons for this and helped understand why, coz i never understood it. Then two people were unaware of this and said 'who said he was hated', i then said read the posts in this thread and you will see that some people dont like him and reasons why.

What dont you understand lol, theres no underlining plot or conspiracy going on towards fowler.

Yeah, he's always seemed to have weight trouble post-Liverpool (first stint) but is looking pretty well at the minute.

I think he's planning on a management career so will be interesting to see how that pans out.

He was disappointed in Rosler getting the boot so soon.

Thank you for the explanation

Similar to Mc Pointy, a "Big name" who was signed for big money and failed to live up to expectancy.

never hated fowler , but we all knew where his loyalties lie , the fact he hated the rags as much as most of us , definitely endeared him to our supporters , (and there are probably quite a few of us who live in a Robbie Fowler house , never a good idea to upset your landlord) , he's alright for a scouser.
