In the past people like us because we were the plucky little club, no threat to anyone, what was there to dislike?

We have occupied, this season, one of the places 'reserved' for The Dippers. We have arrived, by virtue of the cash injection, at a point in development that took The Dippers, MANUre, and The Arse, several seasons. They think that that isn't fair!
But essentially we have the money that they think they are entitled to. To all those Dippers a bit short on their Commandments - Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's oil billions, neither your neighbour's camel, nor your neighbour's defensive midfield.

I can understand the frustration and jealously to some extent. But yeah why all the HATE ??
I remember when Chelsea were spending big and they got a slagging off. I didn't get jealous. Then one day at work these two guys were going mental and I said, "yeah, but if it happened to your club you wouldn't be saying that, its what everyone dreams off".
Now i'm not the next Jesus come to show people a better way of life but I do dispair at why people haven't got the brains to think in the same way.
Theres more positives for the game as a whole never mind just our club but noone looks at that do they.

We've always been hated by the media, when we were shit we were their favourite piss take. The only media coverage we'd get is when Sky would want to show another club's supremacy by scoring against us. Other clubs either took the piss or felt sorry for us.
Not much has changed, nobody's feel sorry anymore though, nobody can really take the piss and we get much more media coverage.
I suppose it could be because the press is so pro-cockney/pro-rag and because we are the totally opposite to that plastic shite, the press feels the need to smear a campaign of hate against us, quite like the FA did when they raped the club of nearly all its assets when we were starting to dominate back in Billy Meredith's day, :/

was down in london a couple of weeks ago and got chatting to a load of spurs and arsenal fans in a pub (mile end). really sound group of lads, and not one of them had a bad word to say about city. don't believe all the crap in the papers, its just them that hate us. most real football fans know we've not had much luck over the years and we're just enjoying the ride

People hate us because of a few reasons.
One, because there are so many people who aren't intelegent enough or are too impressionable to make their own opinions on things. These are the same people who buy tabloid papers, listen to shows like Porky Parry's on Talk Sport, watch MOTD and watch Alan Hansen struggle through the show and hear Alan Shearer's awful portrayal of the English language, watch Sky Sports News and believe everythig that is reported!; and let all these sources form their opinions and ideas on things, instead of sitting back and using their own intelegence to objectively form their own opionions.

Correct. That's what I do with the rags around here. When they've won anything in the past and start to gloat I just say well done, I hope City can start doing the same too. I just shrug off any anti-City comments, say I have no bitterness towards them and hope that we soon can emulate their success. They soon go away - often more wound up than they wanted me to get.
Same with anyone who has a go about our spending now - I just say I quite agree with you, I'd feel the same way if it was your club and not mine. To see a rival club taking the first steps towards winning the PL/CL would piss me off a great deal too - especially as we are buying it and have not really earned it as such. That works too as I've just said what they are usually about to cite as their main gripe.
Add these to the fact I really don't care what anybody else thinks and I live a relatively quiet blue life.
