You may be right in the fact the scummy fuckers get every slice of luck under the sun, but the difference this year is we are getting better and better and the run of luck the've been having cannot be kept up until May, sooner or later things will change and they will be seen for what they are an overachieving and quite mediocre squad riding their luck once too often.
But you have to remember, over the decades Utd play better in the second half of the season.
I don't buy that, its just somthing that gets banded about. you have always had one of the strongest squads in the league thats why yo are always strong when the rest tire. That can no longer be said.
In all honesty Hooter if it wern't for your manager i would be confident you would finish 5th on todays display.

This is the real world, statiscally I'm sure someone, based on the previous 100 years of top flight english football, could come up with the final league standings come May 2011, however chatting shit and spouting about history, counts for fuck all, they may have mainly finished better than they start most seasons, but things change and there's absolutely nothing to say they won't finish this season terribly.

Even if history and stats counted for something, and they don't, they have a different team this year from any previous season, so how would it be accurate to suggest it's likely or relevant, it conclude similarly?

I'm just happy to be in the hunt after all the points we've dropped.

But yeah, that's the second time ratboy benefited from crooked officiating this year.

this.

I've thought many times over that we had blown our chance at the title with countless dropped points in big matches. but, there we are. still right it in. mainly due to our impressive away record.

ok i accept that and have no problem with you reds coming on here as long as you talk sense. my point was that united should have been down to 10 men as well as giving away a penalty. i am just sure that united have a pact with the devil. every team sometimes wins a game that they should not have but united this season are taking it to the limit.

Gary Neville should have been sent off, definitely.

Some of the 'bias' and 'corruption' comments are well off the mark though. West Brom should have had two penalties today, one given, and United had a stone wall penalty case also. It was just a really poor performance from the ref.

It isn't a United only phenomenon though as the result against Birmingham showed.

got my first season ticket in august 1976 , must have jinxed it for all of us , so until i stop going , we're gonna win fuck all!! sorry

mate, statistically history shows that we will be fighting against relegation during the second half of the season, doesnt mean its gonna happen

Bit of positive thinking wouldn't go amiss don't ya think? We are 2nd. Ok with the games in hand United are in the pole position. But I have a good feeling the way we are getting the results just now. I think the game agains Arsenal is a real opportunity to put them down a bit (even if its a draw) and who knows what will happen with United's next few games - ok Stoke is probably a win (but look at how they played last game). Spurs at home will be more of a challenge. Our next game after Arsenal is Wolves at home which we should win. I think there are a few potential trip ups for United after too - return game against Brum (they lost the last time) and then Aston Villa (Houlier really has to strat getting a results soon so may just do it in one of the big games. Let's wait and see before we give up shall we! Joint 2nd on points and winning games with a strong team - I'd rater be us than anyone else.

If winning the league was down to assessing on paper squads, past results and what pundits have to say then the Rags won't be winning it either. It would be Spurs by a mile followed by the Gooners. When it becomes mathematically impossible for us to win it that is when I will concede up until then we are in the mix. The difference this year over past seasons we are still in the mix now, usually our title ambitions are over by November.
