Why we're better than Spurs...

is that it then?
so having a better defence and forward line don't count
strange

It certainly counts but for me midfield, without doubt,is where a game is determined.Besides Spurs defence is not that much weaker than our own, both Ekooto and Dawson would be preferential to our options.

Our forwards are considerably stronger but what use is the gun with the wrong ammunition.

we have scored 6 more than them with our crap midfield against their harlem globetrotting midfield
we need to get a grip!! there is not much in it

and would be gutted if we ever went for dawson

It's a very fine line between the two teams. They do some things better than us. We do some things better than them.

We'll know for sure at seasons end, when one finishes above the other.

We proabably are better than Spurs but there is no question that we are better OFF than Spurs, in the long run. They will be left in the dust with the rest of them soon enough.

Anyway, fuck Spurs. All day they've been a-wanking and a-whinging, all at the same time. Christ, do they rate themselves. Pray for a 1-2 Milan win at the Lane or this will be going on for months again. No wonder the Gooners are so obnoxious when they have to share North London with this set of twats.

i love your tippy tappy skirt round the issues style pam lol!!

Hard to follow up that last post.

Anyhow, (Spurs fan in peace) The one thing most successful Italian managers are known for is a very good and very organized defence. I can't argue with your defensive record in the league. Your keeper & your back 4 were stellar the first game of the season at The Lane, and have been good all season long apart from the occasional blip (wolves at home, for example) Hart is fantastic and will be great for the next 10 years for you guys.

The technical ability in the side is also very good and you've shown the ability to just rip defences apart with little passing movements that cut through the back 4 and boom. goal.

And I have to say, if we had Tevez & Dzeko at Spurs this season, I can't imagine we wouldn't be challenging for the title. I am insanely jealous of you guys for having those 2. Tevez in particular.

The one thing that seems to be lacking (apart from Silva) is the attacking flair in midfield and I think Mancini is to blame most of the time. I get to watch most games over here in the States thanks to Fox Soccer & ESPN, and it seems like even before the Adam Johnson injury, Mancini would be very defensive in the way he sets up his midfield, which of course will lead to less goals conceded, but when I see Barry, De Jong, & Toure in the middle, that's almost like having a 7 man back line with one of em occasionally coming up to support an attack. If you guys had geniunely pacy wingers to pull defenses out of position more than what City does now, I can't see much stopping them. Everything in general is very slow about their build up play.. very precise.. very calculated. And while the lesser teams can have loads of trouble dealing with the passing movements, the bigger teams tend to suss that out on a more regular basis because their defenders are of a top standard. The lack of a true wide game is probably the only thing holding you guys back as real title contenders.

BTW, Spurs defence just got a huge helping hand with Woodgate coming back. I've said it for years that when fit, he is the best defender in England. I can just only hope for our sake he stays fit for the rest of the season. Daws + Woodgate = fewer goals conceded.

Player for player comparasins are stupid (particularly when you leave out Tottenham's BEST midfielder in Modric)

football's not a 5-a-side glory hunter's game you might as well watch 12 year old's play. It's a cohesive game, base on team work and work rate and much the players work.

the thing that struck me about last night was that Spurs players played for each other and the team morale is fantastic the celebration of the players with each other is more valuable than skill (not that I'm implying we dont have exceptionally skillful players) what was also surprising was the fantastic game Sandro and Palacios had, they were genuinely fantastic- this is a Spurs team without Huddlestone, Kaboul, King, Bale and a half fit Modric and VDV.

City are obviously a very good side we're obviously about the same level, Spurs are just more of a team, I'm not sure I buy the "man for man City are better " argument anyway, City fans seem strangely extreme either Spurs are miles ahead of you or you're much better than Spurs and we'll get "found out" or "eventually bankrupt somehow?" why cant you just accept both teams are good and clearly fairly level.

That is how I feel about the two teams. They're both full of talent and both have had great parts of the season and both have had poor parts of the season leaving them where they are, i.e. at roughly the same place points-wise.

to concede our CL spot to Spurs is a bit mind-boggling, sure they've been good just about all season but we've gone on 7/8 unbeaten game runs ourselves. We're in an iffy patch at the moment but the match vs Spurs is a full 2 months away, either one of us might not even be near each other at that time.

We'll both be top 6 when that match comes around. Top 5 maybe.

Are Spurs still in the FA Cup?
