Why would you cheer an arseal win today?

Are we more concerned with united NOT winning, than us gaining 3rd? As the cheer went up when rag ferris said the final score, i thought to myself, why would we cheer our rivals for 3rd getting three points?

I was gutted! When Arsenal scored I stared angrily at the screen. It's still there though, 3rd I mean. We just need Arsenal to slip up and us carry on winning.
You are right though of course, EVERY City fan should have wanted a United win today, however some just can't put their hatred to one side, even for the benefit of City. I remember seeing a poster on here saying he/she would rather us get relegated than United win anything. I class that type of person as not a City fan, but a United hater.

Simple Glen.

Because many City fans would in an 'ideal' situation want us to qualify for the CL and Chelsea to beat Utd to the title. For this to happen, it was more likely that Arsenal beat Utd today, and we potentially take 4th at this stage. If we manage to finish 3rd then great. And yes it qualifies us automatically. Of course, there are equally many fans who dont give a toss about Utd winning the league as long as we qualify for the CL and win the FA Cup. However, I sense most, would prefer us to qualify and Utd to miss out on the title, and lose against Barca in the final of the CL, thus us winning a trophy potentially, qualifiying for the CL and Utd winning nothing. That would be a perfect season. If we have to finish 4th for that to happen, then I suspect many fans would accept that.

No it doesn't, it means we can't slip up in the qualifiers because we won't be in them. Not sure how true it is, (not looked into it), but a rag friend of mine has it in his head we could face Bayern Munich in the qualifiers.

i would happily take 4th so long as united don't win the league. the thought of a european qualifier in romania or hungary sounds brilliant and if united were to win nothing this season it would make the semi-final viictory even sweeter.
