Why would you cheer an arseal win today?

I was gutted! When Arsenal scored I stared angrily at the screen. It's still there though, 3rd I mean. We just need Arsenal to slip up and us carry on winning.
You are right though of course, EVERY City fan should have wanted a United win today, however some just can't put their hatred to one side, even for the benefit of City. I remember seeing a poster on here saying he/she would rather us get relegated than United win anything. I class that type of person as not a City fan, but a United hater.

a city fan is a utd hater

When it comes down to it, who we cheer for or don't cheer for doesn't affect the result. I found myself cheering for Arsenal on the day, if they lost I would have cheered the fact that we're three points closer to them.

Win/win situation.

Oh and on the subject of being laughed at, imagine the scenario of slipping up in the qualifier, and getting NO european football at all!

Remember sneaking past FC Midtjylland on pens anyone? (And that needed an 89th minute own goal from them to get to pens)

I don't give a shit about the rags, i care more about MY club.

You go into the Europa don't you?

Don't think so mate, i reemember rangers getting beat in the qualifiers, and getting nowt.

TBH i'd take us winning the FA Cup and securing that 4th spot and see them winning nothing which would surely shut their mouths for a while. Not too fussed about getting 3rd this year we should be able to beat the teams in the play-off round otherwise we don't deserve our place their anyway. Lets focus on getting 4th and look forward to challenging for the title next year.

When Ramsey scored, I said " Get in". It's habit. It did just literally slip out without thinking - normally when the Scum concede it would have been a " GET THE F--K IN" followed by a quick jig from the Living Room to the Hall.

Therefore; I didn't actually cheer an Arsenal win today - not sure whether this is good enough to get me off the hook though with the OP who we all know is right.

Maybe, but a City fan should want what is best for City, and if United winning means we have a better chance of finishing 3rd, so be it. I can guarantee you now that if we go out in the qualifiers, those saying its great today that United lost will be wondering what if they had won, making it easier for us to have missed those qualifiers. Some can't get over hatred though, which when it gets in the way of what is best for us is sad really.

Silly point Glen re: Midtjlland. Different team we have now. There is always a danger yes, however, we could have equally cheered for a Utd win today, then City go and get beat against Everton and Spurs. All this is silly. It's about principle. City fans on the whole, will always cheer for the most ideal case scenario. And that is trusting us to finish 4th minimum, and subsequently, win the knock out game, and Utd not win the league. If Arsenal beating them, and potentially effecting us from finishing 3rd, means Chelsea have a greater chance, and we still have a good chance of achieving our goals, then many fans will accept that.

Utd NOT winning the league does still mean a lot to City fans.

It was a win, win situation. An Arsenal win gives Chelsea a chance to steal the title. A United win, moves us closer to 3rd place.

3rd place is out of reach now imo so I'm gonna be cheering on Chelsea next week.
