Why would you cheer an arseal win today?

I'll be honest, I just couldn't bring myself to want them to win, although I saw it as a win win situation regardless. I cheered when Arsenal scored, it's hard not to although it wasn't the usual victory dance!

I wish I didn't feel this way and yet, I would take City 4th and an FA cup trophy with the rags winning nowt, over us finishing third, winning the FA cup and them winning the league.

"Love City Hate United"....as much as I hope this won't always be the case, I currently struggle to separate that.

I hope for my blue brethren that feel indifferent to what United do, understand that old habits die hard and you can't just instantly change a mentality you have carried for years. I aspire to be like you, that's all I can say as I feel bad for placing the rags failure above an even better finish to City's season.

a city fan is a utd hater
Maybe, but a City fan should want what is best for City, and if United winning means we have a better chance of finishing 3rd, so be it. I can guarantee you now that if we go out in the qualifiers, those saying its great today that United lost will be wondering what if they had won, making it easier for us to have missed those qualifiers. Some can't get over hatred though, which when it gets in the way of what is best for us is sad really.

im not saying i dont want the best for city, ofc i do like everybody else does, but imo 4th spot was priority from the start, and to get that plus and FA cup trophy(hopefully) is amazing considering 3 years ago we lived in the shadow of utd, now to have the chance of them loosing the title, hopefully get knocked out of the champ league against barca and us winning the FA cup and clinching a CL spot will give us the most bragging right ever to be a city fan against the cunts.
im not saying we'll sail through the qualifying round but if we make some decent signings it sould be job done come august, if not then i will hold my hands up and say i was wrong to cheer today.

Possible teams we could face in the quifying game, should we finish 4th are:

Dynamo Kiev
Wisla Krakow
Lazio
Villareal
Lyon
Bayern Munich
and it's not seeded, we could literally get Bayern!

for fuck's sake, it's highly likely we wouldn't qualify! and you lot are cheering that!

2 reasons.Finishing 4th would mean we'll have an extra home game,that I'll enjoy watching.
Secondly,to see that rags from dreaming to the treble to winning fuck all is just like the mastercard moment:PRICELESS

because with utd losing, we can still win the league

I don't think you're a real City fan should you wish that we were out of the title race.

Are we more concerned with united NOT winning, than us gaining 3rd? As the cheer went up when rag ferris said the final score, i thought to myself, why would we cheer our rivals for 3rd getting three points?

The table tonight:

1 Man Utd 35 16 1 0 43 9 5 9 4 28 24 38 73
2 Chelsea 35 14 2 2 37 11 7 5 5 29 17 38 70
3 Arsenal 35 11 4 3 32 13 8 6 3 36 23 32 67
4 Man City 34 11 4 2 30 12 7 4 6 23 19 22 62

How it could've been:

1 Man Utd 35 16 1 0 43 9 5 9 4 28 24 38 73
2 Chelsea 35 14 2 2 37 11 7 5 5 29 17 38 70
3 Arsenal 35 11 4 3 32 13 8 6 3 36 23 32 64
4 Man City 34 11 4 2 30 12 7 4 6 23 19 22 62

I had a 10 quid bet with the cleaner at my workplace that yernited would win cock all......I'm a tight arse and hate losing money so I was happy with the result.
PLUS if we finish 4th then we play an extra 2 CL games (kind of).

3rd isn't that big a deal. If you can't handle the teams in the qualifying round how do you expect to handle a typical CL pool I'm just making up like:

Real Madrid
AC Milan
Ajax
Man City

Your squad should be sufficiently motivated to at least get to the pools and just hope you don't get 2 huge teams. Not meant put your chances in the CL down or anything as you could probably come 2nd in that hypothetical pool had you played in it this year.

I was gutted! When Arsenal scored I stared angrily at the screen. It's still there though, 3rd I mean. We just need Arsenal to slip up and us carry on winning.
You are right though of course, EVERY City fan should have wanted a United win today, however some just can't put their hatred to one side, even for the benefit of City. I remember seeing a poster on here saying he/she would rather us get relegated than United win anything. I class that type of person as not a City fan, but a United hater.

My sentiments exactly, I was not happy when Arsenal won because 3rd was still possible (still is if we are luckly and results go our way) - it would be nice to split the London Clubs up at the top of the table.

Whether its right or wrong Ill tell you why I didnt want them to win.

I fcking hate the bastards and have done since I was a kid.

The hatred is deep rooted and will never go away.

I still think 3rd would be a long shot even if Arsenal lost today as I think they will win their last 3 matches. I couldnt see us winning all of our last 4
