Bradford also has a population that is more tha 3 times the size of Wigan's.

They also have averaged around 11-13000, making them around the 45th best supported club in the country, even though they've been around the 85th placed team in the fourth tier in the country of the 96 league clubs. They're very well supported for their league position.

They've been a league club for 98 years of their existence allowing them to attract fans for generations whilst Wigan have only been a league club for the last 34 years, only reaching the top two divisions in the last 11 years.

A bit questionable territory when you start talking about City boundaries. Manchester is not that big, but falls within Greater Manchester (as does Wigan).

Yes Wigan is a small industrial town, but it has to be acknowledged that it's pride is divided between football and rugby. Some of their supporters hate each other.....which is why fans sing You're just a town full of rugby.
