Not sure if he is Dzeko/jovetic replacement in the long run or do we go back to 4 strikers. If it's the latter there is no way we can keep them all happy. Especially when we play top teams like Barca, we can't play 2 strikers.
I think Pellegrini is returning to 442, because there is no sense in having 4 strikers if you only plan to play one up top,

I can understand Pellers wanting to go back to 2 strikers. Going to 1 up top hasn't really solved our defensive issues, while at the same time has (to an extent) lessened our attacking potency. 2 strikers worked for the most part last season and helped us to over 100 league goals. Realistically we're going to concede more than Chelsea, so why not go back to our policy of simply out scoring everybody.

Bony has proved he can do it in the PL and even if he only adds the 9 league goals Negredo contributed last season he could be the difference between winning the league and not.

Is he overpriced = Yes
Is he better than current options = Yes
Will he score goals = Yes
If City win the league will his addition and price tag be worth it = Yes

We should not break FFP restrictions to buy Bony.

*the morning after*

"Congratulations on the Bony transfer Txiki"

"Thanks Ferran"

"It's hasn't broken any FFP rules has it ?"

"Awww shit, I knew there was something"

Over a year ago the club thought they would be OK and would not face FFP sanctions in the first place and they did.
It was also expected we would break even this year but still a loss of about £ 7 million (taking away the £ 16 million FFP fine)

Thus they may think the Bony deal does not break the restriction imposed but surely best not to sail to close to the wind if possible.

Ye gods what shite !!!!

Just had a look over on Redcafe

It's a bit worrying really, a large percentage of them are saying its a good deal

Just the small percentage worrying themselves over our FFP restrictions, they haven't got a clue have they

Great signing IMO.

26 year old powerful striker who has scored goals for fun in the Premiership.

As much as I appreciate what Dzeko has done for us, being brutally honest, I think Bony is better. He'll be coming in at the same price as Dzeko, despite it being 4 years later and transfer fees have massively inflated.

Bony's goal record in the Premiership is 25 goals in 54 appearances - very good.

This sums it up. He had a very good reputation before signing for Swansea and was linked with various top clubs. At 26 he is a good age and has now proven himself in a top league. I also assume Yaya knows him well and would have given the club a steer.

£30m is a lot but I think you pay a bit more for a decisive swoop without any messing about. I think there is a marked change in our transfer business since the Kaka debacle and Paul Cook days of acrimonious and drawn out transfers. We don’t play games in the press trying to flush out bargains or force through moves.

Does it mean we will have to sell someone in this window to comply with the £49m net spend restriction for the summer and January windows?
We won't be selling Negredo until next summer.

We will try and sell nasty and Sinclair. I wonder if we need to sell jovetic or someone else to free up a CL place. Perhaps kolorov or release sagna. Can't see us selling stefan yet as that will leave us with no available strikers again until sergio returns which is still uncertain.
