He has it all, but as far as I know he hasn't played at the same level for his country as he has for his club.

If he does though will he be mentioned in the same breath as Pele, Maradona and Cruyff?

I fear his crazy national team manager will hold him back personally.

Yea he might well sell the whole team wwell short. Messi can do it over the next month or so, but if he doesn't he's still only a kid and has plenty time to do it yet. At 22 he could have another 3 world cups in him (though the third might be pushing it) and is more likely to be at his peak in 4 or 8 years time than he is now

this ^^ whatever happens this time, if messi gets as good as he can, 2014 world cup could really be the tournament where he makes himself a true legend

Actually quite a scary thought that.

Pele won the World Cup at 17 and was then kicked out of the 62 and 66 finals. Luckily he was still good enough in 70 to win it again.

Anything can happen in the future so Messi should be looking to seize the moment this time around when he is unquestionably the best player in the world.

he's a wonderful player but he disappear's in games all the time

anyone mentioning his name in the same breath as maradona is a little tapped.
